Default My First HDTV

After months and months of research on what kind of television I wanted, I finally settled on a Panasonic TC-P50V10. If it weren't for these forums, I wouldn't have known about what all the features on these TVs mean (or when they came out, for that matter) but I found out about this beauty and figured I'd save up for one of these instead of getting one out of the G10 series.

Maybe it's because I haven't owned an HDTV before but the picture on this thing is unreal! I watched a little bit of Terminator 2 (Skynet Edition), The Dark Knight, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and The Wrestler all on blu and I couldn't be happier. Turning the lights off and watching a movie with this thing is fantastic! For now, I watch movies in THX Mode and I use CNET's settings for TV watching. Superbad and Rocky Balboa were both on HD satellite yesterday so I was flipping back and forth between the two happier than ever! I had some issues getting 1080i with the HD Star Choice Receiver but once I figured out the output, it was awesome. My favorite channel so far is National Geographic HD. Nothing like seeing hyenas munching on flesh in high definition! I feel like it's a crime to sleep when this thing is around! I finally rolled into bed after 4:00 AM. I haven't played my Nintendo Wii on the set yet but I'm sure it will be fine.

I have an old 5.1 HTiB hooked up right now along with the Panasonic DMP-BD80. It's an older sound system but it still does the job and as it stands right now, I'm happy with it. It's funny...because even I'm getting the lossy codecs to the old receiver, it seems like Blu-rays make so much more noise than DVDs. It's awesome! I will upgrade the sound once my wallet recovers from the purchase of the plasma.

I will post some pictures a little later but I'll warn that I don't have the prettiest or most elaborate set-up out there. My parents had a daughter that passed away before I was born so the TV has always been on a big cabinet where all her toys are kept. It doesn't bother me at all but it seems to alarm others.

If anyone is wondering on whether the TVs in the V10 series are worth it...I've only played with it for 6-8 hours or so but I feel like I've already got my money's worth. It's an awesome set!

EDIT:

I need a better camera.
