Ok figured out what to do for the windows. 100% Opaque black-out film. This eliminated all light. But I will do something else besides blinds for a finishing touch. Probably Black Velvet Curtains or something.

OK, so its all booked. I begin construction on Monday. It will be a lot of work but 10 times better than my present setup. I will try to post pics of my progress if and when I can. Bottomline, is I need to be done everything including painting for the 30th as thats when the new charcoal carpet is going in.
Wish me luck. ![]() |

WOW....it looks just like the pics you did from Google Sketch-Up. That rooms looks fantastic and I love the blood red color walls. You did an amazing job and should be congratulated. However, what happened to the acoustic panels?

Yeah .. those are on my future purchase lists (Along with an RF universal remote, a new rack for my components, and a second sub). But not really necessary right now. In fact interestingly enough, due to the riser and new wall (Which are insulated with sound proofing material) the quality of sound has been drastically improved. Plus the surrounds actually being up at proper height also have increased the overall sound as well. The sound panels will make it perfect. But for now I can wait. Some interesting points I forgot to mention. After hooking everything up, I noticed a hum coming from all the speakers. This was only when the PS3 was running. But happened with optical or HDMI. In the end I discovered the Coax Cable lines I had run along the speaker and HDMI cables must have been causing interferance. I grounded the splitter in the electrical panel, which seemed the help. I also made sure the wires were not visible touching either.
To me it seemed obviously that it was some sort of ground loop issue with the Coax and the HDMI cable. Weird right? Anyways, seems like I dogged that bullet. Another weird thing was with the projector mount I used. I didn't know that that the shelf moves, which although convenient to access the back of the projector, is extremely sensitive to bass. Too much bass and the shelf vibrates, causing my projector to vibrate and the image to shake. Which was not good. So it looks like I might have to change this up for a ceiling mount, and hope that is better and more stable. To temporarily get around this, I cut out a piece of the new carpets under-pad and placed it under the projector. So far it seems to have absorbed all of the shaking. But it isn't esthetically pleasing. |
