At first I thought it was the 5 hd-dvd & 5 Blu-ray deals, but your right, it is instant. At least you get to pick the titles you want, good catch!

Shame the player sucks. I saw it when I was on holiday in the states. It was big and bulky and looked generally horrible.

If I just HAD to have both Blu-ray and HD-DUD (and I don't), I would purchase individual players, rather than the overpriced combo player, for a LOT less, take the five free movies offer for purchasing the blu-ray player, and then buy the other five movies I would want - and still save HUNDREDS of $$$.

LG is very, very stupid... and typically Korean... for keeping this player priced where it is.

They'll never sell them.

They don't have a choice, otherwise they'll take a bath on it.

That's why the 1st gen Sony/Panasonic models are still full price as well

Yep, I'm stupid. I got the LG player a week and a half ago and I love it. As far as big and bulky, its not any bigger than my old VCR/DVD combo player. And yes, I do realize I overpaid for it. My wife nagged and *****ed that I was overpaying for it, but I had to have it. Im impatient as hell, and couldnt wait to be able to watch my favorite movies. Plus, not having to wait and see which format would win was also in my best interest.

Not to nag or *****...but it would have been cheaper if you got the $499 S300 and the $399 Toshiba HD DVD player separately.

Just a thought....just a thought.

The only thing I like about this, if the fact you can pick any 10 moives you want. Doesn't matter which ones.

Sounds great, but then I look at the price and say No Thanks.

$1200 for a bottom of the barrel brand like LG? No thanks, not even with 20 free movies.

Not really. Not after buying 2 monster cables for them. Add in the $300-400 in movies I saved on too and it was all worth it. Alot of people talk trash about Best Buy, but I walked in with my receipt today and they told me to pick out any 10 movies I wanted. The player works just fine, so far, and I'm completely pleased with my purchase still.

It still seems to me that a "compromise" device like this appeals to no one. Most videophiles have their player, or players, and would prefer seperate players before they paid for this. The price of this is far out of the leauge of appealing to non-videophiles, so it's not helping there. Until this war is decided, sales are looking to remain lackluster.

You still have time to return it don't you? Take it back get the S300 and the Toshiba, I think both are giving 5 free movies with each purchase as well. I think you'll be much happier in the long run. Don't spend a fortune on cables.
For that matter, I'm not sure they'll ask for the movies back if you tell them your having major issues with the player, there were several LG duallies on the shelf when I was in last tagged as "Open Box". Somthing to ponder.

sorry, but you are the typical Best Buy consumer

I would research a little bit more before buying any electronics

So why are some of you giving chadunc a hard time? So he bought the LG Combo player, it's his money; he can do whatever he wants with it. He's having no problems with it and he's happy.

Personally I won't buy it and I won't recommend it to anyone, but if it's working for Chadunc then I say good for you.

I think you and I agree here but not "everyone" is giving him a hard time, just trying to advise him of better options. Maybe it is working for him, at least for now...lets just say I hope he bought the extended warranty (approx another $100 expense).

Sorry, you're right. I edited my post. Extended Warranty would be a wise pick.

Yeah the 4 year extended warranty was an additional $149.00 I got it for sure. The deal with the warranty is good though. If I have the same problem with the player in that 4 year span, they will replace that player with one of equal value. So, best case scenario would be I enjoy the player for 2-3 years until someone makes a better one, and I get to drop that one off to them for a new one. BUT... the player works great and I am very happy with it. I know its not for everyone. But its what WE wanted. One player to play all 3 formats. I respect and value everyones opinion, which is why i joined this site. But this is the player that suites my wants the best. I can take the criticism and appreciate the support. And dont worry, if it does turn out to be a piece of crap, I will definitely post it on here immediately. Thanks again.
