Siyempre
![]() Speaking of which, we do have a few Blu-ray DVDs that will come out next month (coinciding with the launch of the first Blu-ray device here in the Philippines). ![]() Sony BDP-S1E with HDMI 1.3 CEC and Bravia Sync -24 fps -plays CDs (aside from Blu-ray DVDs, SD DVDs PAL/NTSC, MP3, VCD, ETC.) -numerous channels of sound are available. -the other features are in the brochure However, one big downside: 60000 pesos = 1,200 in US dollars (you can blame our taxes for that) ![]() Comes with a free movie though of your choice (from the catalogue) and it will be delivered to your door for free. Good news though: This is the first Blu-ray device in the country because the PS3 is not officially launched here. Same with Malaysia (WriteSimply was nagging as to why this came ahead while the PS3 hasn't launched yet in MY). Toshiba hasn't launched anything here so they compose of ZERO of percent of our local HD market. ![]() Anyhow, I'll be checking on this player next week. Hopefully Samsung Phils. would release their BDP-1000 player from hiding (only available to stores/dealers; not sold to consumers atm). P.S. Lolz at FF7: Advent Children on the Blu-ray catalogue. Looks bogus so it must be a DVD version. :P The rest though are still Blu-ray DVD versions. ![]() |

Actually, it's quite a good starter lineup for the region. I mean we get the three BD-50/AVC titles from Sony (Casino Royale 007, Ghost Rider & Open Season) as well as Click upgraded version (now with BD-50 MPEG-2). For me I'd probably pick up only a few titles (007 Casino Royale, Open Season and Ultraviolet for this year)......since each disc here costs 2000 pesos gaah. Or 40 in US dollars. Nevertheless, I'm happy that Sony pushed for Blu-ray and with rival HD-DVD out of sight (Toshiba Philippines are bunch of idiots), it looks like there is only one contender in the HD front. There is no HD format war in this country because Blu-ray DVD is the only one that's present ![]() |

So here in the Philippines, there is nothing yet from the HD-DVD camp. ![]() |
