Default Dialogue enhancement

My Pioneer VSX-517 has a dialogue enhancement setting. When off all the dialog comes from the center. When on it is mixed across all the fronts.

What is best, on or off?

I wish my receiver had this option. Have you tried it using both settings to compare and contrast? I would think the answer to your question is personal preference...unless using your entire front sound stage makes you lose some of the other sound effects due to dialogue.

I have never heard a set up like yours. If you have a weak center speaker then go with the enhancement and have it come from all front speakers. If you have a strong center speaker then I suggest not using the enhancement because I prefer to listen to the movie the way the studio intended. It is all personal preference though. Go with what you think sounds best.
