Angry Sony BDP-BX1 will not play Starship Troopers blu ray

Hey everyone,

I've played tons of movies on this blu ray player and I've never had any problems at all but for some reason it will not play the Starship Troopers blu ray. It shows the loading bar and then it goes to a black screen and nothing happens. I've updated the firmware on this. Can anyone please help?

Do you have a memory stick plugged into your Blu-ray player? Although I don't own the movie, I remember this being discussed previously and that was possibly the solution.

I have a memory stick plugged that's less than a gig. Could that be the problem. I go to update on the blu ray player and it says "already updated"

What firmware version do you have installed? According to the Sony website v. 020 was released a few days ago on 10/22.

You could also try disabling BD-Live in the player menu.

I'm not sure which firmware I installed but I just installed it tonight when my player notified me about it and the disc still didn't play.

Default Blu-ray Players and Recorders

Panasonic are the only company that have released a blu ray recorder outside of Japan, but theirs is not a 2.0 profile player. Does anyone know if sony lg or any other big name brands are going to release blu ray recorders in the near future? I don't understand what is taking them so long, i mean they want us to adopt the technology but there don't seem to be enough products to choose from

I just finished watching this yesterday on my SONY BDP-S350, no problems. I have BD-Live disabled.

I tried it after disabling blu ray live and it still didn't. What's funny is it worked on the blu ray player at best buy when I exchanged for a new copy. This is very odd.
