Default Tannoy arena + Supertweeters

Hi, Looking for some help with this question..

I have Tannoy Arena 7.1 set-up, very happy with it, I also have a pair of Tannoy supertweeters ST200, now I'm wondering if I could wire these up to my front left and right sattelites without damaging anything and if it would make a difference!

Thanks

That doesn't sound right to me I would guess you wire the super tweeters into the same +- as the front left and right (I do this with my Rel sub)

According to Tannoy you wire them to the mains.

Thanks guys, don't think I made myself very clear, sorry, I would wire the left one to the left front speaker (+ to + and - to -) and right one to right speaker, not sure what you mean Alistair when you say to the mains as the diagram shows wiring them to speakers, can you clarify what you mean with 'mains'.

Do you think I would damage them by wiring them to this system as I know they are specifically designed for large floor standing speakers?

See the pictures of my super tweeters and vintage Polk speakers at the bottom of post #1 in the DIY Subwoofer/Speaker Building thread. In the bottom of post #2, you will find the links to most super tweeters.

Mains = Front left and right speakers.

That's mighty impressive Big Daddy, but the query I have is not to do with Large speakers but small satellites from a 5.1 Tannoy Arena System, I don't want to damage my system, do you think these TS200 supertweeters will damage my satellites??

Super tweeters will give upper frequency extension to your speakers. They are equivalent to subwoofers for high frequencies. It is best to connect them directly to your front speakers. It is a waste to add them to the surrounds. Either way, you won't damage anything. About 20-30 years ago, Radio Shack used to sell super tweeters under the Tandy brand. They were about $49 and very popular.

Thanks for clearing up the mains issue Allstar!

Thanks Big Daddy, that's good to know, I wouldn't want to damage anything, just wasn't sure if my satellites would power supertweeters, I will wire them up tonight and see how they sound!

Thanks everybody!
