You don't have speakers yet and your wiring could use some work.

I can see the potential for a great looking setup, but you aren't there yet.

I would suggest getting closer to completion before you start fishing for ratings.

Hello and WELCOME!! Unlike @ least 2 of the members here, I will avoid rating your setup for the moment because there's still time. However, I do like the shelves you have for your disc and I think the HDTV looks really nice mounted on the wall (but the wires to/from the TV need to be concealed in some way as just a suggestion - there are many products out there which you can purchase to do that). Also, you really don't indicate what equipment you own (other than the TV). You should indicate what blu-ray player you are using and if you already own a receiver or some other device for your audio, you should include those items in your equipment list. It will help members with their evaluation. Lastly, I would recommend that you turn the rating score setting of your profile to "OFF" for the time being because hopefully you can already see a trend in the ratings which you have already been given (and statistically, it is difficult to raise a lower score if you receive too many ratings below 4.0). Just MHO and advice (and if you need some advice regarding speakers, don't be afraid to ask)!

Hey

Thanks very much for all your comments

I have put the bluray model number, but I have no idea what model the TV is - sorry!

Don't have reciever as I don't have any speakers yet, hoping to get some in the new year. Don't have money for speakers right now, as I'm getting blurays. The sound on my TV is pretty good to be honest!

I will be hiding the cables more once I have everything I want connected to the TV, still working on it. Got some consoles to hook up yet

Will be looking for advice regards speakers late december/early january, I can message you then?

Cheers

Hi and thanks for the Friend request!! Feel free to message me anytime; I'm retired so I have all of the time in the world. Don't know how helpful I can be regarding different speaker brands because I've been partial to Definitive Technology speakers since the 80's when THX first appeared as an audio option. Back then, I listened to THX approved speakers and I just thought the DF's were better for both movies and music! Here's a link for a 5.1 system from them which is reasonably priced and would go nicely with your setup! [http://www.definitivehometheaterloud...hometheater=1] Also, I noticed from one of your screenshots, your photos above your TV and the movies you own that you really like Al Pacino! He's a really multi talented actor and I like him a lot too!

So what are we rating here, the TV and a Blu Ray player ? If I were you I'd turn off the rating until completed so you don't get nailed by some posters on here.

nice start. I like the neutral wall colors but i think your shelves will pose a problem later on with equipment placement

i went to your gallery to rate your system like you asked but, you have turned the rating off, why? Also, you shouldn't ask us to rate it and then tell us that if all we have is negative stuff then not to bother. and then go on to close with constructive critisicism and help is appreciated. mind you, i like your setup and wanted to rate it but your telling us that you only want nice things written about your setup. if you start off saying write only good things you are suggesting that there are things wrong with it and we shouldn't mention it.

that's not how it works, you put your stuff up there and let folks rate it, don't tell us how to rate it. if your afraid your gonna read something negative then you should take it down if you don't want to see anything negative.

my stuff is up on this site, crappy as it may be, I told no one how to rate it; nor have i ever seen anyone else who tells you how to rate theirs based on positive or negative.

again, i like your setup, just don't like that your telling us how we need to rate it so that it makes you happy.

YOU'RE being a little bit HARSH wouldn't you agree? Just MHO but if you read Post #5, you will see that I recommended that he shut down the rating factor until he received helpful advice, recommendations and completed his HT. People aren't perfect and sometimes they make mistakes when starting a thread here. Cut the guy some slack PLEASE!

Slack, there will be no slack. i did not attack him about his setup, i didn't write my reply using nasty language or any colorful metaphores either. I expressed the fact that i thought it was wrong of him to ask us to rate his setup as long as we didn't say anything negative about it; which he then instructed, don't bother writing if you do. i would tell anyone who posted such a condition the same thing, anyone. if you don't want to potentialy hear anything negative about your setup, don't post it. that's the truth. that is why there are some things i won't post on this or other sites.

so, one more time, i did like his setup, i didn't like his conditions for rating it. and i know none of us is perfect, i never said i was or that he wasn't because like i said none of us are.

there are folks who have really negative things to say, which doesn't bother me too much, when your untruthfull or intentionaly nasty for no good reason then yes, i'm against that; i was none of those things.

I also think you should relax. I see a lot of useless photos that members want me to rate that has nothing related with home theater. It bothers me sometimes but Im not going to jump in and start arguning about it or at the least I wont rate it. Its all about bragging rights on this forum. I could tell you one thing....his setup would look nicer than yours once its all done. Talk about being truthful.

Well I agree with both of you. If your going to put up a gallery and then make rules/requests that you can't control...well that isn't going to work. Your going to get the few bad apples regardless. Solarddad is right that there will always be negative. He makes some solid points...could've put it more gently but the reality of it is this is a forum. Everyone here is subjective to positive/negative comments whether you ask for it or not. I think everyone needs to relax as this has gotten way to personal over nothing worth fighting over. BLURAYSONYES.....attacking other people's setup is a good way to lose credibility if your trying to prove a valid point.

Sam...it looks great so far. Just remember...while you request things...you may not get what you want on a forum. Do you have more pics of the surroundings? Speakerwise...can you remove those bookshelves to put speakers in its place? I would get rid of the bookshelves and put some decent sized speakers there if possible. Otherwise from what I can tell your going to be very limited on options with speakers. Put up some more pics of the general room to see what your working with if you would.

People are so sensitive over nothing...relax people...there is more to life than these petty feuds.

attacking? ha! I dont where you got the idea. I know it has nothing to do with the point but I was being honest just like solarrdadd wanted to say. Sorry if the truth hurts! Theres no reason for anyone here to be upset about.

I think this falls under one of those "damned if you do & damned if you don't" catagories................ I think he maybe panicked a little bit, and maybe for good reason. I gotta cut him some slack too This is a hobby that you enjoy or you wouldn't be here, so stick around. Before you know it you will have upgraded many things numerous times. Comes with the hobby and there is no fighting it. Take advantage of all the good info on the site !!! It will help you make wise choices with gear, and you'll learn many great things as well !!!

Anyhow, it's a solid start !!! I'll admit I have a soft spot for all setups, basic to grand I don't know anyone's personal situations so everyone gets a 10 in my book !!!

Enjoy !!!
