France La Nuit américaine (François Truffaut)

Day for Night Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

NEWS
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=10672

Quote:
Warner-France has revealed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of François Truffaut's La Nuit américaine a.k.a Day for Night (1973), starring Jacqueline Bisset, Jean-Pierre Léaud, Valentina Cortese, Nathalie Baye, and François Truffaut. The preliminary release date set by the studio is June 12th.

The leading lady is recovering from a nervous breakdown, another performer is soused on the set, trade unions threaten to walk, shooting must finish before the insurance lapses and a cat can't hit its mark. Is this any way to make a film? Mais oui!

Day For Night is Francois Truffaut's sly, humorous bouquet to movies and the people who make them, the Oscar-winning Best Foreign Language Film (1973) that speaks the language of everyone who loves movies.

Note: In the U.S., Day for Night is currently available only on DVD, courtesy of Warner Brothers.

As usual, I hope this has English subtitles as this is one of my most wanted blu-ray releases.

Default poster for "Je vous présente Pamela"

Great news ! I love this film, I watched it yesterday, as I was finishing the creation of a poster for the fictional film "Je vous présente Pamela". Here it is: http://phildesfr.blogspot.fr/2013/03/blog-post.html
It was quite fun to recreate a Truffaut-style film poster, please tell me your thoughts on it.

very good, I like it

This is one Truffaut's movies I've never seen, although it's one of the most popular... already pre-ordered, of course

Received this today. The release is a metal box containing a digipack, booklet and magnet. Very nicely produced! PQ looks very solid on a quick check. However, WB France have made a bizarre decision. The blu-ray includes French audio and optional French subtitles only. The DVD is the same as before and has multiple language and subtitle options (including English). I honestly don't understand why they couldn't have ported the subtitles at least onto the blu-ray...

The blu-ray is MEPG-4 AVC 1080i 25fps. The run time is 1:51:02. The film is approximately 25GB. The blu-ray includes the Natalie Baye commentary and Serge Toubiana interview from the DVD. There's also a new interview with cinematographer Pierre-William Glenn on the blu-ray only. All of the special features only have French subtitles on the blu-ray.

They need to release this on Blu-ray in the U.S.

Either Warner Bros needs to put it out themselves soon or it needs to be added to the Criterion collection. This is one of my favorite films and I would love to have it in HD.

So pitiful that they used PAL-sped up masters for this and Fearless Vampire Killers.
