Default Heads up for Blockbuster Closings--Good deals on some games!

As I have mentioned, I'm new to games & hadn't played Prototype before, but I know it looks similar to Infamous (which I've been wanting)--got it for $17.99 on ps3! Don't know much about it, but surely it's at least worth that much--ha ha.

I got my nephew Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for $8.99 on ps3!

They also had StreetFighter for $22.99. Fallout 3 was $27.99.

There were of course, some not so great deals. Newer titles are about the same price: Batman AA for $44.99, Madden 10 for $44.99.

Just giving ya'll the heads up if you see any Blockbusters closing--go inside & check it out. I was hesitant to go inside at first but glad I decided to go in. They said they may even receive more games/movies in the next few days/weeks.

Is Blockbuster going under? I haven't been in about 2 years, so I don't know what they're like right now.

All of the Blockbusters in my area closed down at the same time like 2 years ago.

I might check to see if the one near my house is closing. I used to go there all the time, but with video on demand, and the PSN video store, I haven't needed to go.

BTW, the PSN store used to be really slow, but it's been much faster for me the last few months.

Yup, closing in my area too. I called and they said the landlord doubled the rent hmmm Who wants to get off the couch anymore anyway? Nobody wants to go to brick and mortar stores anymore. It's all gonna be delivered electronically sooner rather than later as streaming gets better anyway, even Netflix will be moving away from mail delivery to streaming.

My girlfriend wanted to catch up on a TV show she missed last year, so she went to Blockbuster to rent it. It turned out that it would have cost her more to rent the show from Blockbuster than to buy it at Best Buy.

I think our Blockbuster days have ended.

That does not even make any sense!? Block buster rentals are like $3.99 for 5 or more days no late fees......Best buy does not rent, so you would be paying something like 29.99 to 39.99 depending upon if it is a special release or not. Block buster is basically going online only like circuit city and gateway computers had to do, they offer VOD on their website and they are competing with netflix by offering unlimited rentals via their website.

Makes perfect sense when Blockbuster splits up their tv seasons into 4 or more separate dvd rentals.

The one close to me is still open for now, so far they haven't mention anything about closing.

I just got a discount card in the mail the other day for 2.99 unlimited rental till Nov 28.
I am hoping they stay open long enough to take advantage of it.

Yup... you know those TV DVD sets that are 6 discs? 6x3.99 = ~$24 just to rent. Assuming that is how BBV does it.
