Default My local Wal*Mart now has Blu-ray!

Today I took a walk through WalMart and found a Blu Ray movie (Ghost Rider)
in the movies section. When I questioned the salesperson if this was the only Blu Ray she said yes but more are on order since they are in the process of changing over to the new format. I also checked out the PS3 display and all the PS3's were sold.
They normaly have four on hand.
Must have something to do with the price drop !

We had Ghostrider, and they took them off of the rack because they weren't selling. Since then -- no Blu-ray.

People go to Des Moines to buy their BR (1 hour drive) or buy online. This town is only 30,000 people, so I bet they're aren't a lot of non SD players here.

My Walmart has 3 titles, all locked up with the PS3 games. I don't even know how much they are selling them for, no prices either.

Hey Goodguy818.

I think you are referring to the Porter Ranch store. We just need them to take down the HD-DUD display on the back side and we'll be in good shape. I also noticed the BD titles were well stocked with good selection.

They only thing I didn't like is that black-level (gamma) on their HDTV was set horribly too dark. A lot of PQ details were getting lost on the POTC they were showing. I told the sales guy to go fix it! This is a problem I see at lots of stores. So potential buyers just walk away not seeing the full impact of a properly tuned BD/HDTV setup. And they shrug their shoulders and wander back to the DVD area. Not good. This is a problem in the retail industry that needs to be addressed. BB is a little better and getting it right. Walmart...forget it.

Wal-mart has always supported bluray. Look on their website and you find blu movies for 20.00 bucks. Some older titles are cheap as hell!

The Walmarts by me have both BD and HD DVD. Although there are only a few titles of each format. They did have twice as many HD DVD players as BD. 2 vs 1. No idea if they've ever sold any. Both the players and movies are hidden in the back of the electronics section.

I work for a Wal Mart here in Indy and most prices are generally 19.96-24.96. Not only that, but you can now buy them online and have them shipped to a local store for free. All you have to pay for is tax. I thought about doing this, but I can't use my employee discount online.
