Default Deep Color /HK avr247

I'm planning on buying a Panasonic 50S series plasma that is capable of "deep color". My setup is older "fat" PS3 connected to HK 247 receiver, then to TV. My understanding is that you need 1.3 hdmi for "deep color". The PS3 is capable, the TV capable but the receiver only has 1.2a hdmi version and allows 1080P pass through. If I connect directly to TV then I would not get my hd audio.

1) Does that mean that I would have to upgrade my receiver to one with 1.3 hdmi in order to get "deep color" from a blu ray?

2) Would the benefits of deep color justify spending the money to upgrade my receiver?

3) Is there any configuration that would allow me to get the deep color and hd audio without upgrading receiver?

Blurays do not use deep color, the only source I even know is from camcorders...perhaps PS3 games will in the future, but for right now, I don't think you should even worry about deep color.

Isn't the purpose of Deep Color to exhibit colors that the human eye can not even detect? I mean, what's the point?

Default Deep Color & High Definition

Hello

Keep in mind that the human eye is quite remarkable, and that without Deep Color, we are not even close to what we are capable of seeing on our High Definition Displays.

Regarding Content l Deep Color is coming to Blu-ray; actually, it was to have been available about two years ago now, which is why it is an important feature on any display or Blu-ray Player.

It's inevitable, and significantly more important than the hype of 3-D that the studios are currently pushing in theaters, and after James Cameron's Avatar, will be pushed by the consumer electronics manufacturers on Blu-ray.

Too bad that they cannot put effort into Deep Color, as they well should, as they know that it is of great significance to HDTV displays.

Regarding Consumer Camcorders l Here, it is already realized, as it is of significant improvement to the color reproduction realized; just compare two camcorders by filming the same content, at the same time, and then display it on a Deep Color Capable Display; it is remarkable.

System Requirements l It is important to know that the entire chain of the system must be Deep Color Capable to realize Deep Color Performance; This includes the content, HDMI 1.3 Cables that are complient, the player, the display; content would typically be directly from a camcorder or Blu-ray Disc, when available.

Thank You

unless you know something the rest of us do not, the Bluray disc specification does not support deep color. Sure the players can output this, because it is a spec for HDMI v1.3 (if enabled), but the bluray disc specification does not.
