Default Sony s350-green line on screen

Turned my parents 350 on this afternoon and a green line from top to bottom 1/4 inch thick is at the far left edge of screen. Tried everything: unhooked, changed cables, update......Any other ideas as to what could be causing the issue would be greatly appreciated. It's the only machine going thru her reciever that has the green line.

Couple things to to try. If you can, try connecting the player directly to the TV and see if you still get the green line. This way, you can eliminate the possiblity of it being produced in the receiver, and eliminate the potential for at least one faulty cable.

Assuming that you are using HDMI, you can also try using the component output to see if the problem clears up. But first, make sure you set the output video format in the S350's menu to component before trying this out. If it is set to HDMI, then component is disabled. At least that is how my S350 operated under firmware version 0.10.

It would not hurt to try another compatible video device into the same input on the TV.

Process of elimination as to what is at fault. Player, cables, receiver, TV.
