Default Moving to a new country, questions.

Hello everyone.

I am moving from California to Singapore in a few months and have some questions. They are 220V and PAL over there.

My question is, will my US PS3 work on a PAL tv that I buy out there? I understand that I have to buy a power converter box for the PS3 but will the NTSC of the PS3 by uncompatibale with the PAL tv. Also, I'm assuming all my region A blus will not work over there since they are NTSC. Are there tv's that can handle both NTSC and PAL?

And I guess the overall question is: In addition to a new tv, will I also need to purchase a new blu-ray player and blu-rays?

Thank you

Your PS3 will work fine, I have a US PS3 here in Norway, and we're 220-240v. The PS3 is multivolt (even though it says 120v/60hz on it), so you'll just need a new power cable from Singapore. Do you have a slim or a phat model btw? Don't know about Singapore, but here in Norway both NTSC and PAL has been supported for a long time (20+ years or so I believe, with PAL as the main), so no problem here at least. Region A BDs will work fine as long as the TV supports 60hz signals, something I believe they do in Singapore (can't really guarantee it though).

I'm fairly certain that the older 60GB models also have the universal PSU. I don't own one myself (I have a 160GB Slim), so I can not give any first-hand tips regarding those models. I would personally go out and buy a power cable in Singapore, and plug the PS3 into the wall socket. I'm 99% certain it will work without problems.

You can read some threads (even a video in one of them).

The one thing you have to worry about, is the Region of the Bds you buy there (not sure which Region they are), and if you're into Ps2 games on your Ps3, you will have to take those with you if Singapore is PAL. PAL Ps2 games will not work on a US Ps3. If BDs in Singapore has PAL/50hz stuff on them, I do believe those won't work as well.

Other than that, good luck on your travels.
