I'm having the hardest time deciding between the 120gb and 250gb PS3 slims. I just don't know if spending the extra $50 on 130gb more space is worth it or if that money is better spent on an extra game. I had a 40gb PS3 and ran out of space on it. I didn't really have anything on it other than game installs, games from the PSN, and some game saves. I didn't store any music or movies on it, but I still used up all 40gbs. One of the reasons I traded it was because I didn't want to spend money on getting a new HDD for it. Just not sure if I'd use up all 120gb let alone 250gb. Decisions, decisions.

Get the 120 and put the extra cash towards another game or some movies.

If you really don't plan on keeping movies and music that stick with the 120gb, it should be more than enough for what you are doing with it.
I download a lot of games, demos, videos and like to keep them on my HD so I'll be getting the 250 at some point. |

I'd like one now. What would the answer be if I wanted one in a few months? Wait for a bundle or something?

Agreed. I put a 320 GB drive in mine over a year ago, and I'm not even using half of it yet. Grab the 120 model. If the 40 GB has lasted you this long, it may be quite some time before you'll run empty on the 120. By then, you should be able to upgrade to a ridiculously huge drive quite cheaply.

Get the 120 and just upgrade the harddrive later on down the road! I had an original 40gb then upgraded to a 400gb earlier this year. I've used maybe 12% of my total harddrive space.......and I have a lot of PSN games downloaded, not to mention mandatory installs on various games and downloadable content!

If you can afford it, and the money is that big of an issue, you may as well do it. If you are rummaging couch cushions for change, get the 120GB. I am surprised with some game downloads and no music, movies or pics that you filled up 40 gb, however you are now getting 3 times as much space, so it should be enough.

If you have to convince yourself to get the 250 gig, or if you cant justify having a 250 gig, then I would just get the 120 gig and use the money on a game.

And to a poster who said just get a game with the $50 left over. To me, personally, I'd rather take care of the storage issue first (which the OP has had issues with before) and get games second. Especially in a economy where game prices drop rapidly if you just wait and in a digital distribution market where all he has to do is go online and get access to HUNDREDS of demos via the PlayStation Store. I actually did this myself for the first month and was quite happy. P.S. To the thread starter: Also, if you remember your password and login details from your old machine even if you traded it back in I believe you will get your old profile back, your old PSN games for your new machine, everything. That might help you in your quest to "rebuild" your collection. Last edited by netguy503; 11-04-2009 at 11:18 PM. |

I think 120GB is the smallest stock HDD you can get now (at least if you want a Slim). HDD prices drop quickly, so the longer you wait, the less worthwhile the 250GB will be.
I have a 250GB HDD myself, and I've already used up about 70% of it, so I'll need to upgrade again soon. |

I would recommend buying a 120GB model now. Eventually, you can install a larger HDD, like a 320GB or 500GB model. I ran out of space on my 60 GB drive, so I upgraded to a 320GB HDD. I've had plenty of room since I upgraded last year.
