The HTPC is now hooked up and working. I've always liked the link between PC and home theater. Check out the pics and tell me what you think.

This was a project that I happily took over in the building of our new house. My wife had total constraints on everything, but this room. Her only request was that it wasn't too gaudy or over-the-top. It had to at least resemble the rest of the house. Instead of hiring a company to design, build and put the entire room together, I decided to do it all myself. My wife was nervous!

Having that bar type deal at the rear is a fantastic idea, I always hate balancing plates on my lap

very nice and neat. What is that white thing, on the right wall, with antenna? I love your stand for the remote control!

The Remote comes with an RF signal base (this is whats on the wall with the antenna). The wires are routed in the wall to the appropriate component inside the cabinet. I originally had it in the component rack as well, but at the last minute changed my mind and put it on the wall. Thanks for the kind comments about the room. Every decision in the room was based on keeping things neat and tidy. Many, Many, Many hours spent looking at professional home theaters and trying to recreate some of their looks.

Addition of HTPC. I havn't seen too many HTPC on the HT gallery. Does anyone on this forum use the PC with theater. The PC took about a week and half to build from scratch. Most parts came from tiger direct and newegg. Best place to buy if you are building your own computer. Enjoy the pics

I have used an HP HTPC for about 4 years now. The only thing I've replaced is the video card for DXVA support for MKV highdef playback. I was just about to ask if you had built that yourself before you posted. Anyway you could PM me with a little more specifics of what you used, and costs? Did you by chance take any pics of the guts of the PC? You can't really see mine in my pics, but it's right behind my front right speakers, turned sideways against the wall. I didn't want the front to be seen anymore because of the lights. I've recently been thinking about hiding mine completely, and probably will when we move. Nice work!

Thanks for the comments. The bar idea was lifted from a RUNCO ad I saw in Home Theater Magazine. I went through about 10 designs before I settled on that particular configuration to hide the gear. Keeping the look clean was paramount to the WAF.

The room dimensions are 22 ft long by 17 ft wide.

The bar is so great as either a safe eating alternative or an extra 4 seats.

Just changed out my Yamaha speakers for my previous NHT line. Tried to convince myself about the Yamaha's, but I love the way the NHT's sound too much. New audio cabinet was made to match the bar in back. LCD monitor to control computer in next room is being installed this week in cabinet as well. Tell me what you think of the new cabinet.

Hey CSW, love the set-up. I don't think I've seen two center's before.

I'm very interested in your HTPC, can you give a break down what you built, and how it's used with the HT. I'm working up some plans for a HT Room over-haul, and I'd like to integrate a computer in there. At the moment, I just connect it into the receiver for music, but it looks like your dedicated PC does a lot more. My new console or rack will have a phone jack behind it, so I can have my high-speed modem and router right there.

This computer took me about a week to put together and incoporate into my home theater. Since the pics I have replaced the DVDROM with Blue Ray. The video output is in digital (2560 x 1600). Mit. projector will do 1080p

Home automation software on the computer is HOMESEER. This is used sparingly as our security-automation system does 95+ percent of the job.

Netflix is used with this computer because it has a direct line to the projector.

I have multiple thousands of songs on the computer but rarely ever use this room to listen to music. Most of the time I just generate a play list and pipe music throughout the house with the computer. I know there are better whole house music systems out there, but I do not have the time nor the energy to research it. This computer does what I need it to.

ASUS rampage LGA motherboard - $275
QUAD core processor $210
Thermaltake Motzart case $250
Seagate TB (4X) 2 internal, 2 external $475
GTX 295 video card - $300
aerocool and IMON - $225
Blue originals heat sink fans (3X) - $110
HDTV card (Dvico dual express) $140
Crucial 6GB RAM - $200
Misc items as well, but all in all about 2K

BTW, you could build this computer for about half this price now. I don't recommend getting the latest and greatest thats out there.
