Hey there. I just recently purchased one of those HDMI 1.3 compatible receiver: the pioneer VSX-LX50. I hooked up the BD-P1200 to the receiver and was amazed by how great the receiver performed in Dolby digital that is. BECAUSE how surprised was I to discover that the DTS soundtrack of a movie didn't pass through the HDMI. I don't know if it is linked to the use of the brand new player's firmware or not but to get to enjoy the DTS sound I gotta pick it up from the optical output. Can you believe it ?
I want to cut down the wiring to minimum and still I got to use those optical or coaxial cables. What's the point ? ![]() This configuration being all new, I keep on testing it, willing to know whose fault it really is, the poor HDMI cable I have or the fact that the player won't convey a DTS signal through HDMI (the latter would be contrary to what the user manual states in this specific matter) . Blamimg the receiver is out of the question cause every other signal is passing with no mishap and the DTS decoder works for having tested it on the optical input. Considering the price of a good quality HDMI 1.3 cable, I would be really well-advised to wait for one of you guys with a similar configuration to test it before purchasing a new cable. As for the BD-P1200, Samsung will probably issue eventually a new firmware to take advantage of the new HD audio formats and if needs be correct this DTS glitch. ANY INFO IS WELCOME. C U . Bye |

I have the Yamaha amp and that has HDMI 1.2a and im getting both picture and sound no probs.I also get DTS and all the other soundtracks from my PANASONIC BD10A.
I cant see any reason at all why u shouldnt get DTS.Maybe you need to make sure that everything is selected correctly in the menu set ups on your Amp and Player. |

Today I received the BD-P1200 I had ordered from Amazon. I spent a good bit of this afternoon messing with settings trying to get bitstream audio setting to work over HDMI. It would only send sound over the HDMI cable using PCM.
Having read your post a least I now know I need an optical audio cable as well. I should have said this is with a Pioneer VXS-82TXS receiver. Last edited by lansbury; 07-21-2007 at 12:39 AM. |
