did anyone else catch this on cartoon network as part of adult swim? it was surprisingly good. written by Warren Ellis(The Authority) and done in a very serious tone.
Snake Eyes must have killed about 15-20 people in this. There is an awesome fight sequence between him and Storm Shadow. if only the new cheesy movie was done in this tone. I think you can find this broken up into episodes on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DJAZ...eature=related |

I watched it. I thought it was pretty good. I loved hearing actual gunfire instead of lasers when they were shooting. I liked that people died on both sides. The end was a little foreseeable, but I enjoyed it.
Snak Eyes was really cool. For some reason it still bugs me that he can't talk. |

I thought it was some of the best drawn Anime I've ever seen... I really love the style used. The movie itself was just pure awesome. I thought it was going to be good based off reports but it definetly exceeded even those expectations.
Please come out on Blu-ray! |

I know it wasn't intended to be this way, but I find it amusing that even though the feature film is still a little over three months away, I can't help but think how this one hour adventure aired in mostly five minute segments has more than likely upstaged the big movie in a serious way. I just saw all of this last night and have to say that it is the G.I. Joe as I remember them and as they should be. Resolute kicked major a$$ on all 8 big SUV style cylinders.
When the the live action movie has G.I. Joe chasing after Cobra Commander whose plot is something expected to be lame like global warming, I'm going to laugh out loud. Fortunately, I won't disturb anyone in the theater since Resolute has given me the G.I. Joe fix I crave and can now no longer justfy spending $10 on a ticket for a film that radically deviates from how these characters are supposed to be. (How are the characters "supposed to be?" They're supposed to be cool butt kicking warriors, real american heroes.) I get a real hunch this film will poison the idea of making anymore live action G.I. joe movies for some time, but there is hope out there thanks to this animated feature that I pray there are more of. I get a feeling (and I hope I'm wrong) that Stephen Sommers will make any future Joe movies very difficult to get approved the way Bruckheimer poisoned the Batman well with Batman and Robin. The fans suffer in cases where the director of a big project can turn out to be less than knowledgeable about what fans want. Michael Bay, you're lucky something like this didn't come out before your movie in 2007. You may think Transformers are just robots beating each other up, but there is a dynamic and characterization to these characters that you turned your back on as well and if something like this had happened before Transformers then people would notice just how much you put your lame signature on the franchise. I will give you credit though Mike, I'm sure you can do a much better action scene than (G.I. Joe Director) Stephen Sommers. Last edited by raskal66; 04-28-2009 at 01:56 PM. |

I agree that not everything needs to be dark. What made me cringe about the movie coming up was the idea that they attempted to make G.I. Joe politically correct complete with "Joint Operating Entity" BS and Sweden. To me, the fact that the director even entertained this idea before Hasbro intervened says a lot about what kind of movie we will likely get. Maybe and hopefully I'm wrong about that. I prefer to think of G.I. Joe as corn fed, American butt kickers like the 80s cartoon showed them. That image of them is also how they made the most money and had the most significant impact on the culture that gave birth to the idea that a movie would be successful. Put the keys to the Ferrari in the hands of a child, don't be surprised when they crash. |

I prefer the way GI Joe was portrayed in the 80's comic vs the cartoon

I was really impressed with it. It seemed a little old school but also more mature for us "older" G.I. Joe fans.
I agree the artwork was really well done. I hope that they start a new animated series based off of this show, that would be awesome! |
