No you won't. At that distance and that size you definitely will not be able to tell a difference. Save your money get the 720p. I dont know what size of room you are putting the tv in, but if it were me I would just save my money till I could get a 50 inch or bigger 1080p, but if you are getting a 32 due to room constraints then go for the 720p.

I have a 42" Panny, and my viewing distance is about 6-7 ft. I'm completely satisfied. Jcole is right: unless your TV size is more than 50-55" 1080p wouldn't make too much of a difference. |

You shouldn't notice any difference. then again, 1080p TVs are so affordable now why not just spend $100-$200 more and get a 1080p set? I mean, if you're really strapped for cash, then absolutely get the 720p. But, a 1080p set isn't that much more these days.

Honestly
If you are going to be buying a 32inch HDTV go for a 720p set. The reason why is because it is impossible to see the difference between 720p and 1080p on a size that small. The only was you can see the True Difference between 720p and 1080p is if the HDTV is 50inches or bigger. |

Viewing distance is important....but what about the other specs? Is the 1080p set better at video processing? Does it have more calibration options? Does it have better ANSI contrast ratio? Does it have deeper blacks?
There's more to just resolution when it comes to HDTV's, so anyone just telling you to go with either the 1080p or 720p set hasn't thought out the purchase very carefully. |

I got a 32'' 1080p 2 years ago for my bedroom for christmas and now as with most people who settle for a smaller set am now asking for a 40-46'' since I just don't feel into movies with such a small screen I'm 7-8 feet away. Last edited by supersix4; 10-25-2009 at 05:57 PM. |

Honestly folks, basing statements on panel resolution alone is really not good advice at all. There are more important things to consider than panel resolution and a 1080p 32" may well outperform a 720p 32" in key areas of picture quality outside of panel resolution...and vice versa a 720p panel may outperform a 1080p panel - the Home Theater Mag HDTV shootout from 2008 can attest to this when the 720p Kuro outperformed 7 other 1080p HDTV's. I didn't see the OP state what models of TV he/she was looking at so there's no way to know what differences there would be between the two. |

You don't need the full benefit, even if you were only able to resolve 900 lines of detail at 6ft with 15/15 vision that's still more than 720 lines. As for computer monitors, I very definitely see a difference between 720p and 1080p on a 22" 1680x1050 monitor at 2ft. |

Because you definitely won't be able to tell 1080p on a 24". |

Discerning resolution does not depend on screen size alone, it depends on viewing distance and screen size along with source resolution. You definitely won't be able to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p on a 65" screen depending on how far away you aware. I have a 22" computer monitor and I can definitely tell the difference between a 720p source and a 1080p source, have tried it several times using MPEG-4 files from Apple.com/trailers |

![]() You are incorrect sir. My parents own a 720p set as does one of my friends. The 24" screen image looks far better than both of their sets. You get higher resolution meaning you fit more dots in a smaller size. The 24" at times looks better than my 50" but unfortunately the actual picture quality isn't as high as the black level on my 50" is a lot better. |

IT'S ALL RELATIVE TO VIEWING DISTANCE! Why can't people understand this concept.. ..

You won't notice the difference between 1080P & 720P, but the 1080P LCD might have other things (higher quality electronics, scaler, etc.) that might make the picture better. These days most 720P units are budget models that might lack some of the other features that give higher end units better overall picture quality.

The problem with my setup is that I have this great TV but I am viewing it just like any 720p TV because of my viewing distance. I need to make some living room adjustments. Hopefully the misses wont mind. |
