Default Should I upgrade from 1080i to 720p or 1080p?

I'm planning to upgrade from my Olevia 37'' 1080i. My viewing distance is around 10'. I absolutely love my Olevia, but with all the sales going on I'm tempted to upgrade. I want a bigger screen but what should I go for 720p or 1080p?

Did you read any of the other threads that are basically the same as this? There are several (some on page 1). To make it quick, get 1080p unless you're getting a smaller TV and/or sitting far away from your TV. Knowing how much you are willing to spend is obviously a big factor as well.

I would say that unless you get a 50"+ TV, you wont really benefit all that much from 1080p, seeing as you sit 10' away. However, if might be a good idea to go with 1080p if you ever see your viewing distance shrinking

You should ignore panel resolution and choose a TV based on ANSI contrast measurements, viewing angle, motion resolution, video processing and calibration options.

Panel resolution is way down the list on importance, however you'll find that most manufacturers best sets happen to be 1080p, so it's pretty much a moot point.
