It's the better version of the two in my opinion I was wondering if any one had heard about a possible release date for the original.

Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw

My opinion too - a very tense thriller with a wonderful cat and mouse between Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau.

I'd certainly add this to my collection. WM was brilliant... in fact most of the cast was.

Good. I'm not the only one who would love a BD version of the 1973 THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3.
The standard DVD does not do it any justice at all. I would love to see it in BLU RAY anamorphic widescreen.
Of course, the new version has come out on BD and any hope of the 1973 version on BD is dwindling. Its a shame.
