Default Predator...Anyone know of another release?

Hi folks. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything, which I doubt already, about a Predator re-release. One of my favs of all time but I thought the video on it was so so and there were no extras really. Just wondering. I keep getting tempted when I see if to $10 bucks but I'm trying not to buy into the double dips. Yes I know it's only 10 bucks but, I'd love to hold out and see it with some really great video if that has the possibility of happening sometime soon. Thanks.

I don't think Fox has any intent to start double dipping. I was hoping that they would re-release Night At The Museum with extras to tie in with Night At The Museum 2 but they didn't. If i were you i would buy it for 10 bucks, its an OK release and the A/V isn't too bad. I don't think a double dip will be happening anytime in the near future.

There's been no news that I'm aware of either. Also this is one of those movies that (as I understand it) was shot on a lower quality/cheaper film stock and therefore will never look like Iron Man or Transformers. From what I've read, the current blu-ray is probably as good as it's ever going to get.

Ahh...Alright. Didn't know if there was a possibility or not. Or any of the specifics.. Thanks for your insight. I think I'll just put it on my Christmas list

Wink Murphy's Law

You do realize that as soon as you get it, you'll find out about some super duper version coming out in the near future. (sigh) Murphy's Law. I loved the film, too, and I remember seeing this film in theaters and though it looked quite vibrant. I was rather disappointed to read the reviews about the subpar A/V. Oh well. At 10 bucks, you should get it.

Yeah that always happens. The following week after I buy it they will release it with some extra 30 minutes they found hidden in a time capsule fully remastered.

For $10, you can't go wrong. It will be a long time before it is double dipped, if ever.

He does ask a fair question; Fox's domestic BD of THE SIEGE has zero extras but the Brazilian and Hong Kong ones feature all the ones that were previously on the DVD. But in PREDATOR's case, alas, no, barebones is all we've got...

The main reason I ask is because I have the DVD version which is awesome. Loads of extras, great packaging, etc. They didnt' include any of this stuff on the blu so I figure, like a lot of times, they are holding the extras for the next release so they can double dip. I can't see any other reason for Fox not to include all that great stuff in the blu release if this is the only release we can expect. It's not like we are scrounging for space on they blu discs.

Default Predator double dip

Robert Rodriguez is currently producing a sequel to the first Predator film called "Predators", based on a script he wrote in the '90s. I'm hoping the first film will be remastered and reissued with the extras from the special edition DVD to coincide with the release. We'll see....

It would be great if they re-released to movie. IMO, this is one of these movies where the PQ starts out awful, but gets better thru out the movie.

If you want all of the extra features, then just buy the special edition DVD that was released in 2004. I have that as well as the Blu-ray version of Predator.

Yeah I have that DVD as well. The main problem is the sub par video of the current blu release although from what I read, that is the nature of the film and probably doubtful they will be able to do much more than they already have with it.

The thought of the aforementioned "Predators" frightens me.

Just think, this was one of the Fox titles that was $39.99 when it first came out (along with RoboCop, Commando, Carrie, etc.). Every time I see it for $9.99 (or less), I kind of go .

The current Blu-Ray looks and sounds as best as could be expected from the film given the age and source material. For $10, it's a no brainer.

I love Predator and to be honest I have waited to purchase it due to the fact that there are special features for this movie out there that contain deleted scenes and I tend to stay away from movies with bare bone special features!

Be happy with your dvd release. Better packaging anyway and it's the best the film will look. It doesn't have that great of a source material but it still gives you that guerilla feel, sadly it's no Rescue Dawn.
