Just got mine in the mail today! I did the install and its pretty cool.

The downside - Its 480p and no 5.1, Anyway to change these settings???

No 5.1 sound?? Then what's the point?

Netflix Instant is not a replacement for the PSN Video Store nor is it intended to be a replacement for discs in the mail.

The Netflix Instant was intended to be a supplement to the discs in the mail. That is how it is advertised. The selection of titles is primarily made up of catalog and independent titles. Every now and then, you may find a new release pop up but these are almost always from independent studios. Starz has allowed Netflix to include Starz Play in the Instant section so if a movie is debuting on Starz then you can find that film to stream. The Haunting of Molly Hartley, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and Sex Drive are some of the titles available as part of Starz Play. Management which was recently released on home video is also available to stream.

Netflix originally designed the service to work with PCs, hence the stereo audio. When the Roku player was announced, Netflix promised that 5.1 audio was coming. Netflix also mentioned that the PS3 streams should be 5.1 (if available) but that did not pan out.

You can not change the settings for Netflix Instant, its based on your internet connection and the server's workload.

To get 720p HD video, you need to have an 8mbs or greater connection. To maintain the HD connection without a shift in quality, a 10mbs or greater connection is recommended.

To get DVD quality 480p video, a 5mbs or greater internet connection is recommended.

The Netflix requirements understate what is really needed for the best video.

Just received my disc today also. It is user friendly and better than I expected. The menu screen could have load up a little more quickly, but nothing to really fuss about. Navigation is smooth. 5.1 sound could be a plus but I am not concern about it because if I don't use it for streaming purposes. Heck, the disc is free so I don't expect perfection in any way. Pretty happy so far.

I never got an email. I just checked my account at Netlfix.com and it showed the disc's shipment and arrival dates.

Update on Netflix coming to PS3

I'm getting from 2-3 mega bits on my PS3.
At times it drop to 700 or even 400 kbps

Quite disappointing. That said I have 5mb FIOS and need to call for them to make it 15/5 mb. Also, my wireless connection to my PS3 stinks.

I have a booster,but still only have a 50% signal. I'm thinking about running a wire to my PS3.

Once you get the faster downloads does it look HD? I watched Hero's season 3 and the PQ was pretty bad at times.

Got the disc today.Worked fine. But no 5.1 audio. You can still matrix the sound to 5.1 if you have a good receiver. Some titles say HD which look OK. But most of em are 480p. Hopefully sony and netflix work together to get this working better. Still a nice add on and a good choice if you are really bored without movies.

Thanks. It's not showing up on my account. I did request a disc but maybe the option doesn't show up until they ship it?

All I have is a "WATCHING INSTANTLY ON YOUR TV OR COMPUTER"

EDIT: I was looking for the PS3 disc shipping status. Does that show up under the standard "DVD Shipping Activity" section?

No it does not. Atleast mine didn't. I got an email saying it was shipped out but it did not show up on the DVD shipping activity.
