Maybe this is what the Sci-Fi Genre needs; a cool Indie flick! Check out the pics:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Head over to FirstShowing.net for all the links and the full article. How about a few more awesome photos today from another great indie sci-fi project? Our friends at io9 have the first look at a film called Hunter Prey being made by up-and-coming filmmaker Sandy Collora. That isn't a CGI suit of armor above - it's entirely real. Way back in 2003, before Batman Begins had ever hit theaters, Collora made a controversial fan film titled Batman: Dead End that premiered at Comic-Con (watch it online). It became an overnight sensation but before long, he encountered legal problems bigger than he could handle (and ended up getting a book written about them). Now Collora is back with an indie sci-fi project titled Hunter Prey that looks absolutely fantastic - as you can probably tell. Hunter Prey centers around a crew of special forces commandos who must recapture an alien prisoner that has escaped after the military transport ship carrying it crashes on a desolate and hostile planet. As Collora himself explains, "there are subtle political and environmental overtones that I certainly don't hit anyone over the head with at all, but that will hopefully make you think about things like war, politics and current events, by presenting them in situations cinematically from a uniquely different perspective." Collora already finished shooting this on a shoestring budget down in Mexico and is currently in post-production, putting on the finishing touches like a computer system voiceover and visual effects. Those three photos above come from the extensive interview that io9 recently did with Collora. In it, he explains that the film is a lot like James Cameron's Terminator, where it's "a very small piece of a much larger picture." He continues, "It concentrates on how the bigger situation (which in this case, is interplanetary war) is affecting the two main characters, who are now separated from it, and how they relate and react to their situation and each other as a result of it. As the story unfolds and more things are revealed about the characters and what their relationship is, we had to create in a sense, what we could not show." It's a very fascinating interview about the struggles of budding filmmakers like Collora. Last edited by GreenScar; 11-19-2008 at 02:54 AM. Reason: added pic |
