This movie seems to have been forgotten. It's a Drew Barrymore and Matt Frewer film so I don't know how it went under the radar for so long. Does anyone know if this will get a blu ray release or should I just give up hope?

You and I are probably two of the only people here who even remember it (I still own it on laserdisc). I always had a fondness for this one- a western desert version of the usual travelers-preyed-upon-by-hillbilly-locals storyline. About the only notable aspect (besides A likable dad role fro Frewer and Jennifer Tilly popping up in a supporting role) is it's Drew Barrymore's first teenage role.
I think the best you're gonna do is get an HD download off of Amazon for $5.99. It was up for free for a while on Prime and while I didn't watch the whole thing, the opening minutes looked great- better than the DVD - and in it's theatrical (cropped) OAR which I'd never seen before. IIRC this was an Embassy title put out by Artisan on the DVD so I'm guessing Lionsgate might still have it? If that's the case, I wouldn't hold out much hope. Especially given the situation the economy, and especially consumers will be in for a good while from here on out. |
