Default Lazy broadcasting

I was watching The Simpsons on Fox (HD-WUTV Buffalo). It was a rerun of one of the new HD episodes. Instead of broadcasting in proper HD (16:9 and digital sound) they broadcasted it in lame SD (4:3 and awful sound). They do this all the time for many shows outside of primetime. I know they have the HD versions available...why do they continue to be so lazy so late in the HD game?

Because they're cheap. I hate when my favorite tv shows are pre-empted because when they show them at those strange hours in the middle of the night, its never in HD. Plus the re-runs are usually local programming and most don't offer HD. Prime time is network programming.

What's the point of pumping out an HD signal if your only utilizing the full benefits maybe 4-6 hours of the day If your already spending money on that, just go all the way and quit jerkin us around.

I've been patient with the cable company/broadcasters, but they still treat HD as some experimental luxury. They want me to pay for HD channels, even though I'm already paying for the channel in SD. I am seriously considering selling my HDbox and switching to antenna for HD channels (some pocket change for a few more BDs). I think I'll get CityTV, CBC, global, fox, a channel, omni1/2 and ctv over the air.
