music problem with ps3 3.01 update

My imported music on my ps3 was decoded as 7.1 mult pcm on my receiver. The update that I had was 2.60 and it was real loud. When I updated the ps3 to 3.01, the reciever was 7.1 mult pcm and then clicked over to pcm only. I was fine with it, until I listened to my tracks. The music was much lower and I had to turn my reciever up more. It did the same to one of my older blu-ray movies (oldboy). It wouldn't decode into the 5.1 mult pcm english. The reciever clicked over to 5.1 pcm. Do I have it on some wrong seting on the music or something or should I reset the whole system and update the 2.60 blu-ray media disc from (under world 3). Can someone help me, your input would be very appreciated.
