The age-old question. Ignore the other thread (which will hopefully soon be deleted) and post in this one please!

Kirk. Shatner. Number one all the way.

Sisko is pretty awesome too though.

I don't know what I was expecting, since every single "Best Star Trek Captain" poll/thread/discussion/etc. ALWAYS comes down to Kirk vs. Picard. The others never have a chance.

Sisko, the obvious best choice. Still wish DS9 had gone more than 7 seasons, granted it didn't really have anywhere to go after the finale.

Captain Kirk, Shatner edition. I do enjoy Chris Pine in at the helm though, obviously.

Picard, Kirk and Archer are my faves.

Although I watched the movies as a kid, TNG was the Trek series I grew up on, so Picard (and his crew) has always been my favorite. Kirk is awesome, too, but I'm much more familiar with him from the movies than TOS, which I'd watch here and there growing up but have never really watched in its entirely. And I liked Archer a lot. I was a big fan of Enterprise, my favorite Trek series since TNG.

I only watched maybe a few seasons of DS9 before losing interest, Voyager I could never get into, and I'm not a fan at all of the latest movies.

IMO the Kirk of the original series is much better than the Kirk of the movies (referring to Shatner's Kirk in both cases, not the remake Kirk). On the whole, Shater seemed to play the character much more mellow in the films, whereas in the original series he played him in a sterner fashion, with more of a military edge (female encounters aside), and I always found that preferable.

Picard is my second choice, though in that case, I think Stewart grew into the character and was better at it from about the second season on than in the first season.
