Default Friends Movie

I didn't find any threads about it from searching but kinda late news but on September 27th a Friends cast member has said that a Friends movie is being developed for release summer 2011.

Take it as you will but I really hope we get a friends movie one day I just finished season 1 even though I'm a few years behind but love the show.

I would rather see a Seinfeld movie.

I couldn't really follow friends. However, this is a surprise if they go ahead and make a movie about it.

This was bound to happen. They did it with Sex in the City so it was just a matter of time before they did it with another series. Besides friends i would love to see a Seinfeld movie.

Not too surprise they would make one but I am wondering something, were not the salaries at the end of the show quite high for the entire cast? What would they do to get them all back?

Then a gain it's not like they are quite busy these days. Well maybe beside Jennifer Aniston.

I wonder if they can keep the chemistry they had or even create a compelling plot. One thing I really liked about the show was that it the story was serialized, as opposed to zero sum. But it's been so long that the movie will feel disconnected from the rest of the series.

IMO the series was decent, had it's moments but I did not care too much for the story. I might see it if they make it but I could live with myself if I skip it. I don't really see how they could make a movie, they comcluded everything in the show

Well using their old salaries as refrence (and I'm certain that won't be the case, especially in Aniston's case but just as an example) that is 1 million dollars per half-hour episode. Asuming they manage a 90 minute movie, that would be 3 million per cast member which totals 18 million just on their salaries alone.

My gf would sh!* blood and and break my arms in pure joy if they ever made it!

But I think it would be difficult to do a friends movie, one of the trademark of the tv show is that they had a live audience and much of the laughs you heard was actual audience reactions.
I don't know how that would translate into a feature film.

I think one of the Friends refuted this rumor almost in the same instant it was created. I don't think this is going to happen. Never say never though.

Friends wasn't live. It's a laugh track. Many shows have them. The odd thing is, most of those laughs were recorded in the fifties. Most of those people laughing are dead.

I'm sure it would work if they had a good writer.

Yes it was, see the special features on the dvd's if you don't believe me.
Every scene (pretty sure) was shot with a live audience.
Seriously.
(didn't want to sound aggresive)

Although, not every "laugh" was from the audience, sometimes the laughs were too loud, too quiet or other, so they edited when they saw fit. that's why I wrote:
"and much of the laughs you heard was actual audience reactions."
Update:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friends
from wikipedia
"Filming for the series began in the summer of 1994 in front of a live audience, who were given a summary of the series to familiarize themselves with the six main characters;[26] a hired comedian entertained the studio audience between takes.[15] Each 22-minute episode took six hours to film—twice the length of most sitcom tapings—mainly due to the several retakes and rewrites of the script.[15]"

That would be great. Friends and Seinfeld are my favorite TV series of the 90's.

But as much as I would enjoy a well made Friend's movie, I am enjoying Cougar Town at the moment. And most of all, Larry David has got me hoping for a Seinfeld anything.

I loved the show but don't think a movie is needed as, like you said, the finale pretty much tied it up. If anything they should consider a "reunion" special.

The live audience thing I don't think is an issue. If you go see it in theater, I'm sure people will be laughing, and you'll get the effect of watching it on TV.

I'd rather see a Cheers movie.
