So I know alot of people were getting the Snow White & Up steelbooks at Best Buy and not actually getting the movies there...either paying $7.50 for the empty case, or returning the movie w/receipt but not the steel.
If what I just found with their District 9 exclusives becomes the standard, it will make it much harder to obtain JUST the steelbook w/future pre-orders: ------------------------------------------ I was going to try and get the BB exclusives that come with the District 9 pre-order AND the steelbook from Futureshop...but I just got off the phone with the "inventory manager" at my local BB: And he says the District 9 pre-sale exclusives are NOT working the same as the past 2 exclusive steelbook advances (Snow White & Up), but rather- you go in and put $5 down and when the movie comes in, pre-sales will include the litho and dogtag on the day of release! Link to what I'm talking about here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.ph...33&postcount=1 Would have thought this was just like Up and Snow White, go in and pay your $5 to get the exclusives TODAY and put money down towards the movie for its own release day! |

ahhh...okay then, maybe it's not new!
I think the Up & Snow White steels might have been the 1st blu-rays I've actually "pre-ordered" through BB...and seeing that the exclusives were already pictured in the ad, both myself AND the employee I spoke with thought they were out today (or even this past Sunday)! ![]() Oh well! |

As Wreck stated in his reply, this is not an unusual scenario, but it would have been problematic for me if the release date wasn't revised (I'll be in Canada till sometime in the new year, and I don't know nor want to impose on anyone to go out of their way to pick this item up just for the lithograph and keychain).
Frankly, I don't know if there is a logical way for them to track the cancelled pre-orders for Up or Snow White. I did the Up steelbook pre-order and I picked up the release at Best Buy, but I didn't have the cashier credit me the difference during check out; I went to Customer Service for the $7.50 refund after my transaction was completed. |
