Exclamation Home Theater PCM issue.

I have the onkyo thx-s990 7.1 Home theatre system and I have plugged my Panasonic DMP-B10A blu ray player into it. The reciever doesn't have HDMi so i have it plugged in through the 7.1 analog outputs the Panasonic has. The problem is that when I try to play PCM i am only getting 2 channel output when i should be getting 7.1. What did I do wrong or just what didn't I do? Any suggestions?

well not being very familiar with either of those components, I would say if youre at least getting sound, then the HTIB works, and looks to be a setting in the Panny DMPB10A

maybe try turning PCM downconversion to off

(you updated firmware?)

Ive been looking at the manual, and theres a section about adjusting speakers in the Panasonic...says something about "2 channel" and "multichannel"...try messing with that and see what you get? (top of page 23 in the user manual)

you gotta also be sure to turn off the hdmi audio. for some reason, having it turned on tells the player that your tv is "two speakered" and hence it cuts the sound down to two channels. also, leaving BD sound functions for menus on might also down mix to two channels.

so

multichannel-----set your speaker size and delays and or volume settings

hdmi audio off
bd menu sounds off

this should do it

the digital output area only pertains to audio outputted thru ur optical or digital coax out. so no worries there. just leave dd bitstream, dts bitstream, truhd pcm and dts hr/ma pcm.

like i said before since you're doing the analog bit, these settings in the digital area really dont matter much.

Good Luck!!!
