United Kingdom Doctor Who: Spearhead From Space

According to the new Doctor Who Magazine, the BBC will be releasing the only Doctor Who story to be completely shot on film, Spearhead from Space on blu-ray during the first few months of 2013. Included with be all the special features included on the Special Edition DVD released a few years ago, plus two new extensive documentaries looking into the lives and careers of Jon Petwee and Caroline John.

Wow, I never thought it actually happen, because from what I've heard the BBC don't consider 16mm film to be worthwhile. Maybe this is a test to see if they can release other film-based shows from that era.

I already have the Mannequin Mania box set, but this is an essential purchase fro me, obviously. I'm also glad to see it'll feature new extras about two of the stars, RIP Caroline John.

Now let's hope they can do the TV Movie, assuming Fox still hold the film prints. It'll be a long-shot, but with TNG going down well, maybe, just maybe, the BBC and the Restoration Team can push for it.

I hope it is only going to be this story and leave it at that. I will be just finishing my Who DVD collection around this time as i bet others will be also. No way am i going to buy the lot again on blu ray. A one off release like this maybe out of curiosity.

Yay for waiting! Didnt pick up the Special Edition re-release so I will definitely grab this one. I can't wait! Classic Who on Blu.

And I agree on hoping the others don't have a blu re-release. I love the way the DVD collection looks right now.

I'm guessing this will be it (unless if they want to upgrade the tv movie as well). I feel the same way.

Me too, I am happy enough with the DVDs for now. I would not, however, be averse to them releasing the odd classic here and there, such as this.
