Google to Unveil Chrome OS Tomorrow?

Itching to know more about Google's Chrome OS? So are we. Luckily enough, the company is set to reveal all about the software tomorrow.

TechCrunch reports that Google is planning a Chrome OS event for this coming Thursday. While the Google operating system won't be launching tomorrow, the company is said to be lifting the lid and providing a lot of details about launch, showing off some demos and discussing the technical background of it all.

Although Google is going to go into great detail about the Chrome OS, the actual launch won't happen until sometime next year. That said, if Google's willing to show demos and go into to great depth about the software, I'd bet the mortgage we won't be waiting until through Q2'10 for this one.

Google does things pretty well, and their Android OS for mobile devices is quite fast. It's possible Google can develop a better static OS, but I wonder if people will adopt it, as Windows and Leopard seem to really have a stranglehold on the home computing market.

I thought this was a hoax and it just turned to be a skin for Linux.

That was a different thing, a few weeks ago.

If Tom's Hardware is posting this rumor, I think there must be some credibility to it.

no they're actually making an OS (and that was my bad for posting that news here)

i'd be surprised if they released any code on friday tho. and nobody should expect this to compete with win7 and osx..for now anyways. this is more for netbooks

i've been ready to install for awhile tho, bring it on google
