I'd love to see a good transfer of this done to Blu-Ray:

The movie was overall entertaining, but visually it was stunning, especially the CGI rendered sequences of the psychedelic journeys taken by the main character (supposedly peyote in the film, but actually based on real-life experiences Jan Kounen had taking the shamanic plant brew ayahuasca in the Amazon jungle of Peru).

Lots of people seemed to hate this film, but I for one thought it was worth a view, and I demo the CGI sequences to friends many times.

I actually posted this question to Jan on his forum and his response was once the blu-ray market gets big enough they will release it.

Me too. I'm halfway through watching it - took me forever to actually get ahold of it down under, and the DVD quality of the Oz release is atrocious. Who on earth releases single-sided, single-layer, non-anamorphic transfers these days? Even non-zoomed the picture was awful and blurry. A shame, because you can tell it looked amazing when shot/on film. There wasn't even a subtitle track!

I love the mandala/kaleidoscopic effects too. So rare for effects to be stylised these days. So yes I had to do a search and see if there was any word on a Bd release. This gives me hope, as there are many obscure films being released already. Who ever thought Bugsy Malone would get a Blu-ray release so early in the format's cycle?! Instant buy here. But some extras too please.
