Sounds like the bundle that Amazon are offering. Is that where you got it?

I've just put my 360 on the market with a view to buying a PS3 instead.

Yes, BD-J is part of the BD specification and all players must comply with it. PS3 is certainly doing a good job with Java apps on Blu-Ray discs. Take a look at Pirates of the Carribean discs for example.

Why not have both? Both systems are off the hook for various reasons!

I just got my brand new PS3 hooked up last week. Am I the only idiot that has trouble with the eject and power button? It takes me several tries, and sometimes minutes to get a disc to eject...what am I doing wrong...should be as simple as press the icon, correct?

Hmmmm, interesting. On mine only the slightest touch to the eject button, litterally as soon as my skin touches it ever so barely the disc ejects. Now with the power button that one you would have to hold down for a second to shut down.

...and no you are not an idiot, let us get to know you first so we can call you an idiot and really mean it

I think I just found out why, looks like a defect or my PS3 got banged up during shipping. And the area around the buttons is where the problem is. Too bad I had the installers chuck my PS3 box :-( Oh well...it still works...I just have to fight with those two buttons.

Thanks for the heads up that I can turn it on with the remote..not having any luck turning it off with the remote. I'll just leave it on. That's not gonna hurt it's shelf life or anything, correct?

From http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/...90-coming-soon

"Oh, and one more thing: you can now eject discs using your controller by selecting “Eject Disc” in the options menu after you push the PS button"
looks like your fight will be easier now, i read somewhere that you might be able to turn off the system with the controller too.

Angry

Having returned the latest BDP-S300 (great picture on my 1080i 2 year old Sony 50" KDF-WE655 RP) because it didn't support the new or soon to come Blu-J interactivity (do I have the name corrrect?) and didn't have an ethernet port or wireless built in for firmware upgrades, I purchased the PS3. Both came with a narrow choice of 5 rebate Blu-ray movies that I probably wouldn't buy). The PS3, contrary to most reviews here, displayed a granier picture-nowhere as smooth and pleasing as the 300. Also, that white triangle to indicate a disc was about to start would appear at times such as the start of a movie or after a chapter selection was made, was very annoying. The onscreen menue was like wise annnoying. I returned it. It looked like a blow up version of the PSP. I'm going to wait for the next Blu-ray to come along with a better way to do a frimware upgrtade. Typical of Sony to introduce a Blu-ray player that would be outmoded in 90 days with an attached note saying that it couldn't support coming BD features.

You've always been able to turn off the PS3 with the remote by holding down the PS button then selecting it from the menu. That's how I always turn the system off, I'm too lazy to get up and do it manualy. And the eject function with the remote is going to be available with firmware 1.9 wich should be available for download any day now.
