United Kingdom Lost Season 3 and 5 - pictures

I got both of these on Blu-ray this week. Took a few pics and wrote a little about the sets for those interested. You can find Season 3 here and Season 5 here

Note the hidden hieroglyphics on Season 5, which are exclusive to the Blu-ray cover. For some reason they couldn't find another place to put the age ratings, so we can't see all of them. I guess we have to wait until they come out in America to see if theirs are covered over with ratings. Translations can be found here

Thanks for sharing! I wonder why they made the case less thick?? I hope they don't do that in the US...it's bad enough they messed up with the rhythm with the box from season 3.

If you find any pics of the Dharma initation kit, post them up as well :...I'm curious about those disk sleeves. I think it will mess up the disks.

For some reason the Dharma kit isn't going to be released in the UK. Otherwise I would have gotten that instead! Season 5 is only 5 discs, so they can actually fit it into a regular size case. Same happened with Fringe. I'm annoyed about messing up the rhythm too. Here, Season 1-3 all match up but Season 4 is slightly different. Now Season 5 messes it all up.

Check out my blu's they're more messed up than yours I hate the smaller fonts on Season 5 & 3, why do they have to change something everytime?

Season 1-2 is from Region A, 3-4-5 is from Region B

Yeah it is annoying when they change it slightly everytime. Season 4 is most out of place on mine as S1-2 have the small font. The problem is, after Season 4 they started releasing them under the "High Definition Collection" banner and even the inner disc case changed. Blah! I just hope one day they release a full set 1-6 with identical, matching cases.

At least you guys got a pretty even lineup (with the exception of the thin Season 5). Over here in the US, thanks to Season 3 being the first ABC TV show to be released on Blu-ray, they pumped up the hype with a nice case only to switch to slipcovers starting with 4. Don't get me wrong, the cover is nice (and rare nowadays), but it literally sticks out against the others. And thanks to the case, the top is different from the rest as well. Then again, the Dharma Kit isn't exactly small and even...go figure!

I don't have any of just the Blu-ray, but I do have comparisons with the S4 DVD (they're a little big, so I'll just post the links):

Got my hands on the Best Buy exclusive (there were literally TWO left!!!). It's really nice, despite it simply being another slipcover. And yes, that means two Season 5's...technically three with the Dharma Kit:

Thanks for the pics. Looks sweet! The HMV bonus disc had the same cover except it wasn't holographic and it was just a single disc sleeve. It's kind of annoying that it's basically two slipcovers you need to take off in order to actually get the discs out! Don't worry about owning Season 5 three times, I do too. I have it on Blu-ray, DVD and Dharma Kit Blu-ray (that last one is region A only so I can't actually play them!)

Does anyone know why the US Blu-ray is in a regular size case and we ended up with a skinny one? It would look almost indentical to the rest of the seasons if it weren't for the size, ugh. Even though you got the regular size one over there it the seasons still don't match up (damn you Season 3 and 4). BTW, does your Blu-ray of Season 5 have the hieroglyphics in the bottom right of the cover? If you could, it would be great if you posted a really close up (and clear as possible) picture of them that I could use for Lostpedia.com, since the picture I have has the damn age ratings covering them.

Did you guys get the Dharma luggage tag too? Kind of a pointless gift, but it is nice to look at it.

Yeah, at first, I thought the actual boxset matched the slipcover! I threw the unopened Blu-ray set up for sale though. No reason to have the same thing twice, especially if it's just a slipcover, lol. So I have two copies, but that's way too much in the eyes of other people. I imagine you know how that feels, lol.

To tell you the truth, Season 5 is actually the thinnest season here too. You can't see it much in the pictures because of the angle, but it's smaller than 1-4. Very little difference, but a difference nonetheless. No idea why they changed it

I went ahead and scanned the set...cropped the glyphs too. I tried taking close shots with a camera, but I think the scan looks best.

Let me know how that works.

That's brilliant, thanks so much. It's really annoying that they placed the age ratings right over the symbols on the UK set!

No problem! I think the companies (like Buena Vista/Disney) should have instructions for the manufacturer on how and where to place certain labels. On the UK sets, is that age ratings thing on the same place for every set, or was it just yours? If it's on every set, I wonder if the glyphs are actually there...I would assume they are, but you never know, lol.

Nah, it was on every set. And the hieroglyphics are definitely there on the UK set. Here's the current photo I'm using for Lostpedia's S5 DVD article: http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Glyphs.png
As you can see, only the first three are visible while the rest are obscured and you can just about see a 4th between the age ratings. I'll replace it with the image you posted now. Thanks again!

Just another update...finally got the 5th patch! I decided to display them with one of my posters too.

I bought another set pretty cheap (DVD version) knowing it had the patch, but I already sold it back, without the patch of course, and I actually made money on it. So as of now, my LOST collection is complete! Another thing is that with the DVD set, the Letter of Truce was still sealed, so I switched it with my opened one.

I saw the pics on DarkUFO earlier. I'm so jealous! BTW the poster looks awesome. It's really simple, but it just works.

Alpha, have you tried displaying that poster with the five patches aligned under or over the LOST logo? I think it'd be pretty sweet

Thanks Baker, it's the Comic Con one!

I lined up that way the first time Kynch (on top), but unfortunately all five don't fit across, so I had to split them up.

Does anyone have that HMV exclusive bonus disc that came with season 5?

I had no idea that such a exclusive even existed. Even the check-out staff at HMV didn't tell me anything about it when I bought season 5 so I ended up getting the 5 disc version without even knowing there was a 6 disc version.

Is it still avaliable anywhere? If not, anyone here have a spare one?
