Default If you could remake one movie, which one would it be?

This does not necessarily mean that you have to pick an unsuccessful film. It may be that you just feel a film needs to be re-made because it's been awhile since it's original release or for a different reason altogether.

The same movie I mentioned in the related thread , "The Black Hole".

The premise of this movie had so much going for it, but unfortunately it was made by Disney way back in 1979, and was Disneyfied. I would go with the dark themes of the movie and make them far more explicit, and explore the charachters of Rhenhardt and Booth closer. I would also ditch the arty ending.

I would however keep the score by John Barry, one of the finest and most atmospheric movie scores of all time IMO. I would also keep the floating robots (downplaying the sentimantal BOB) and the beautiful but foreboding spaceship (the Cygnus).

If this was handed to someone like Ridley Scott it could be a masterpiece.

Battlefield Earth. The book is an amazing book. To handle it as a good movie you would likely have to do a trilogy because of the thickness of the book.

I agree with you about The Black Hole, I saw it for the first time in along time on tv a few weeks ago and a re-make along the lines you put forth would be great.

This would be more of a TV series, but they did had some movies for it, so Tenchi Muyo anime turned to live action (I know what you are thinking) but keep it as a comedy as the anime, have someone like Zac Effron as Tenchi (They all look white OK, and yes I'm aware they are not asians), Alan Arkin as Katsuhito, Tilda Swinton as Ryoko, Zooey Deschanel as Ayeka, Chloe Moretz as Sasami, Ellen Paige as Washu, Anna Farris as Mihoshi, Brad Garrett as Nobuyuki, and have George Clooney voice as Ryo-Ohki (He did a gay dog in South park with only dog noises, so that counts), speaking of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker could do the towers (I do not remember their names) and give them those stereotypical asian accents. You can flame me if you want, but I just wanted to burn some time.

Star Wars episodes I - III.
l would keep the story lines as they are, but get a director who could illicite good performances out of his actors. (Natalie Portman can act dammit!!)

I would go with Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, that franchise deserved better than that horrible movie.

Any film that is not historically accurate. American war films fall mostly into the category.

Excalibur. This is one of my favorites but I'd like to upgrade the special effects.

X-Men 3. Trust me, you would literally say "Dark Knight Who?".

Robert Heinlein's "The Puppet Masters".

It was a complete disaster, ruining one of the best science fiction stories ever written.

Yes she can,

It's hard for anyone to act well when an entire movie is green screen.

I dunno, I thought Ian McDiarmid and Samuel L Jackson and Ewan McGregor did a good job.

War of the Worlds - either version! We need an adaptation that's faithful to the original book, especially the setting and the period. The face off between the tripod and the Thunder Child would be a great piece of cinema.

Starship Troopers. This time I would actually follow Heinlein's actual story instead of ridiculing him.
