Default DSD bitstream

Can you recommend me a receiver capable of receiving SACD DSD bitstream
from oppo83? My budget is limited and I would be very happy if there is one around 500ish

EDIT>
I need a receiver with
-DSD bistream processing
-Preouts on all channels

Why not save yourself some money and convert DSD to PCM in the Oppo?

BDP-83SE ?
I know nothing about it
do you know how much improvement it is from BDP-83 ?

But still I think a decent receiver would be good investment.
I need a receiver with
-DSD bistream processing
-Preouts on all channels

Currently I am looking at Marantz Sr5003 or Sr6003
but why is is so hard to find out if they have
DSD bitstream capability or not
But I would love to hear suggestions and recommendations

Thank you

The BDP83 Special Edition adds a new and improved analog board and analog power supply over the regular BDP-83. If you are planning on using the analog outs on the 83 I highly recommend the SE, if your only going to use HDMI stick with the regular 83 the SE will do nothing for you. There is also the NuForce edition BDP-83SE that adds further improvements to the SE analog board but will set you back $1299.99.

DSD processing in the receiver would only be needed if your going to send a digital DSD signal out the BDP-83 over HDMI to be processed by your receiver. If your going to used the analog outs for SACD & DVDA I wouldnt worry about DSD processing.

the Sr5003 does support DSD via HDMI bitstreaming as well as multichannel inputs and multichannel pre-outs

the best price i could find is $450.00 for a re-certified unit. if your willing to take the chance then here you go. of course, you should do some web searching yourself to see what you can find. this site also offers a 3yr extended warrenty on this unit for under $40

if you go with the receiver above or another receiver that supports DSD via HDMI, then the standard oppo blu is all you will need. the oppo blu also supports DSD out via multichannel analog so you'll still get the benifit of DSD.

http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-83/

I have an oppo blu and a receiver that supports DSD via HDMI and i love the sound. i have a nice little collection of multichannel/stereo SACD(DsD) & DVD-A music and it's still growing, just picked up Carol King, "Tapastry" excellent and of course there is Billy Joel, "The Stranger"!

best of luck, keep us posted!

I have the Onkyo TX-NR1007, but I don't send it DSD from my Oppo. When I decode in the Oppo, it shows up in the 1007 as 88k. When I send DSD to the 1007, it shows up as 44k. Regardless, I can't hear a difference between the two.

I send it DSD from my Oppo to my Onkyo 805. It's just nice not to worry about switching back and forth from Multi-Channel, to listen to sacd and dvd-audio.

that is exactly how i have mine setup via HDMI however, dvd-a doesn't support dsd so (it's native format is MLP when done true) it does go out as multichannel. when playing sacd with dsd, my receiver screen says DSD i press display and it says DSD 5.1 @ 44khz. when playing dvd-a my screen says multichannel i press display and it says multichannel 5.1 @ 96khz/24bit.
the display from the oppo when playing dsd via hdmi is DSD 5.1 the display from the oppo when playing dvd-a via hdmi is DVD-A, MLP 5.1
at least that's what i get.

i love listening to either medium, however, i think SACD w/DSD has a slight edge over DVD-A. again, i love them both. i am hopefull that more more of a variety of todays music will either be released in these two formats or on blu-ray audio with lossless audio, multichannel in LPCM, Dolby TrueHD, or DTS-HD-MA formats. i like my iphone when i'm driving and sometimes even connected to my system but when i want real listening pleasure, it will come in the form of SACD, DVD-A or lossless on Blu!

I haven't done all that. I'll have to play around with it some.
After listening to sacd, I put in a dvd-audio, and it plays without me doing anything. Whatever it does, it does it automatically. I took it for granted it played the same as the sacd, since I changed nothing. Will look into it closer............

since you and i both have the 805 i can tell you this:

go into the setup menu
go to #5 listening mode presets
select the input associated with the oppo player, i.e. DVD
you will see codec on the left side and probably see "last valid" on the right, make these changes: (also write down what things are set to before you change anything, this way you can change them back should you decide to)

analog/pcm - direct
DD - DD
DTS - DTS
multich pcm - multich
192k/176.4k - pure audio
D TrueHD - D TrueHD
DTS-HD-MA - DTS-HD-MA
DSD - DSD

exit the menu of the receiver, make sure your oppo audio is set up to this:

Audio format setup:
secondary - off
hdmi audio - bitstream
sacd output - dsd
lpcm rate limit - 192k

Audio Processing:
dynamic range control - off

put on a nice multichannel sacd w/DSD and get back to me!

note for all, these settings are only for the Onkyo 805, i don't know what other receivers or pre/pros might need to be set at. it might very well work for other Onkyo receivers and pre/pros, i'm not sure though.

Ok, I'll try that sometime this coming week, and let you know how it goes.
I'm also going to try the tv calibration disc that came with the Oppo. I used some settings I got from AVS (not my favorite place), and they look pretty good, but hoping the disc will help me get things better. I wish I could afford a professional ISF calibration. Just got the tv back in April, so it's just getting broke-in good.

Thank you everybody !!!!!!
I finally decided to stay with Analog stereo for now.
After so much researching,
it seems like getting a receiver just to experience the
SACD DSD bitstreamed sound is overkill.

Thanks again !!!!

Yeah, I'm stuck with my receiver with hdmi INPUT but it's only PCM. The receiver not accepted SACD DSD bitstremed. Mostly I use hdmi for blu-ray.

I've few music SACD. I like stereo analog than multi-channel. But I like this multi-channel is better.

My receiver has multi-channel input. Okay...I switched it's very nice smooth beautifully sound.

you're right SACD DSD bitstreamed sound is overkill
