Default new to SS

i just purchased the Sony HT SS360. i havent gotten it yet but i want to get a jump on how to connect it. i will be using a PS3, my Cable Box and Samsung HDTV. is it possible to set it up so i dont always have to use the SS System? any info is appreciated

if you are connecting the Blu-ray player and cable box via HDMI to the SS receiver, then yes you will need to have the SS system on for the audio and video. Also on your PS3, you will need to have the audio set to MIX so you get the HD audio decoded and then sent over as LPCM.

It sounds like you don't always want the SS system on for watching TV, but honestly after 1 week, you won't notice, news will still sound like news and then if you watch CSI or something, you will be like, cool.... its in surrounds sound. My wife wasn't big on the idea at first, and now she cannot stand it not being through our receiver...
