Default Expensive Week

With 300 and Shooter on Blu-ray, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead on HD DVD, and Pathfinder on regular DVD it is quite a week for movies.

What do you all plan on buying?

Only 300 for me.

Sheesh, why are you wasting your money on HD DVD product. I recommend renting them and wait for them to come out on Blu-ray before owning the movies.

The more you people continue purchasing HD DVD the longer this silly war is going to last. Please stick to Blu-ray from now on.

To each his own, if I owned an hd dvd player I'm sure I would be picking up hot fuzz as well, not because I would be supporting hd dvd, but because I like movies. But seeing as to how I only have a blu ray player I shall stick to blu rays.

Please stick to Blu-ray, are you serious? I know there is a format war but I am a huge movie fan. If I enjoy a film I am going to watch it in HD on whatever format it is on.

How is it wasting my money? There is no indication of a winner. Plus have you tried HD DVD. It is still a good format, even though I favor Blu-ray.

Pathfinder was such a big let down.

300 and Shooter are definite buys!

Welcome to the forums!

I can't agree with you more about pathfinder, whether it was the acting or the horrible camera shots that were covered up by digital snow....they could have just done so much better in my opinion.

300 and maybe shooter...

Wow. I diddnt know Shooter was so popular... i loved it to death, but i know it diddnt do so well in the theaters...

as for the HD-DVD + Blu-Ray thing. Yes- I've seen HD-DVD. and i own a Blu-ray player...

quite honestly, i dont know why anybody would buy an HD-DVD player.

1. it will be gone soon... im sure i dont need to go on about why as you prob have seen when you walk into wal-mart.

2. you can just download them, put them on the PS3, and voila. not that i do that or anything...

If someone is format neutral, why in the world would they deprive themselves from watching a movie they enjoy in HD? So they can wait and hold out hope that it comes out on Blu-Ray? Ummmmm, how about a NO on that one

BTW, 300 and Shooter for me also.

Would rather see people pick up movies on Blu and SDVD instead of HD-DVD period.

No sense supporting a dying format.

What is that quote? "Buying HD DVD is like buying a ticket on the Titanic after it hit the iceberg."

The points I am trying to make are as follows:

1. This is blu-ray.com (99% of the people on this website hope at HD-DUD dies a horrible death).

2. The longer that people support HD DUD the longer it will continue to exist.

3. The HD format needs one media type to really compete with DVD.

4. The HD format needs one media type to really be taken seriously by the studios because this format war is preventing any serious growth with respect to overall sales compared to DVD.

I am a huge movie fan too. And like most people on this website, I have chosen Blu-ray as the only next generation movie format in the hopes that this war will end soon. I rent/watch movies that are not released in Blu-ray on standard definition rather than support the enemy. I would like to also watch those in high def but I am considering the bigger picture which is one format in the end: Blu-ray.

It does no one any good for both formats to continue. Please consider the audio format war: DVD-A and SACD. Because there are two formats, neither format has made any real impact with respect to sales. CD’s continue to be the dominating media format for music. We don't want DVD to continue to be the standard for movies, do we?

I am a Huge movie fan too. Hell I dont think a bigger one exists on this planet. I only own blu-ray because this is the format I think needs to win. I can watch my Universal Standard DVD's until they see the light of blu. I dont think being a big movie fan has anything to do w/ supporting both formats.
