I thought it'd be cool to have a cosplay thread. I figure if we keep it clean, the mods shouldn't have an issue.

I know a couple of people that do cosplay, but I haven't done, or am I interested in doing myself. I like looking at some of the pics that people do though.

I've never done it myself either. Though in my case it's cos I'd feel self conscious (though that probably wears off after the first couple of times) and, honestly, some of those cosplayers pull off some pretty impresive getups. The latter would be rather intimidating.

Still, they're impressive and I admire that they keep at what they love.

If you think the superhero cosplayers take it to extremes, check out the anime cosplayers. They will spend hundreds on custom-made pieces of clothing and items. The competition tends to be brutal and cut-throat in the world of anime cosplay. Though you can always buy a pre-made costume, like this one for Alucard.

I actually like how extreme cosplayers can get. Especially when they put together a lot of intricate costumes either from scratch or cobbled together from various bits of custom gear. It might seem nuts to some folk but if they love doing it and the end result is badass, I say they should keep at it.

Not really big into the whole costume play, but if I were, I would love to go as Stranger from Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.

This particular pic of Laura D. Cosplay amuses me to no end because in it she is a dead ringer for my cousin. So much so that when I sent this pic to my cousin, her parents were convinced I had photoshopped her face on this pic.
