I just watched this movie earlier this week, just wondering if anyone else has seen it yet and what they thought? I really enjoyed it, it was nice to see a sports story that expanded beyond the playing field the way this movie did

i just saw it last week as well and thought it was pretty good. I wished the film used real teams, but i guess that would be expensive for a lower budget film.

They mentioned the yankees as well as the dodgers in the film but for some reason they werent playing for the royals

But regardless that shouldnt ruin the movie

I thought it was good, but not great. It contains a handful of cliches, and seems cheesy at times, but it's not bad. The guy who played Azúcar/Sugar is pretty good, considering he'd never acted before.

And it does use real teams. Sugar played on the Quad City Swing (technically called the Swing of the Quad Cities), which, at the time of the movie, was a real Single-A affiliate of the Cardinals, though they recently changed their name back to the River Bandits.
