Strangely, it seems this might be an HMV Exclusive, yet it is available to pre-order from Amazon.co.uk (under the title "CHILDREN ACT, THE BD HMV EXCL [Blu-ray]", no less) here:

I've seen a few of these the BD HMV exclusives on amazon and no n of them were on amazon at all, also they had love simon blu ray on amazon uk site and that never came out on blu ray at all in the uk

Well, Love, Simon is a Fox release, while The Children Act is from Entertainment One (only distributed by Fox), so hopefully it won't be cancelled.

The Lionsgate US DVD has an audio commentary, but I don't see it classified at the BBFC :

The Amazon listing has just been updated with the cover art and the correct 21 January 2019 release date (it was formerly listed as 7 January 2019 there), so it seems that this is now not exclusive to HMV.

The Amazon listing has this at full RRP (£24.99), not in stock and an eta of 1-2 months before it maybe available. I was in HMV Glasgow store today and as expected no sign of it as they are not getting most new film releases at present due to being in administration. I asked one of the regular staff and he checked their internal EPOS system which says it is "discontinued" but he says it may just appear at some point. I note HMV.com's listing (https://store.hmv.com/film-tv/blu-ray/the-children-act) has now been removed so I am guessing if EOne/Fox did print this up, the stock is stuck pending what is happening to it nd may be stuck for a while if KPMG have any liability over it or they perhaps pulled it from being released on blu-ray totally before any copies were made for distrinbution so this may be only released on DVD here in the UK, the DVD is out at any retailer btw.

A similar thing happened with The Little Stranger, another former HMV Exclusive which showed up to me today from Amazon. My guess is that both Blu-rays were fully manufactured, and now, the slipcovers have to be removed (and possibly the artwork re-printed) to reflect that they are no longer HMV Exclusives, something which was probably printed and/or stickered onto the slipcovers and/or jackets initially.
