Default Audio shuts off on the receiver when I turn off the tv.

I didn't know where else to post this, sorry if it's the wrong section. I currently have my ps3 running hdmi to my Marantz SR 5003, then hdmi to my Panasonic plasma tv. If I turn off the tv to just listen to music I am playing from the ps3 the audio shuts off. I looked thru settings on all three devices but nothing pointed to a fix. Any ideas?? Thanks for the help..

You probably have HDMI CEC turned on in some or all of your gear. A Wiki description of HDMI CEC is
Quote:
Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is a one-wire bidirectional serial bus that uses the industry-standard AV.link protocol to perform remote control functions. CEC wiring is mandatory, although implementation of CEC in a product is optional.[68] It was defined in HDMI Specification 1.0 and updated in HDMI 1.2, HDMI 1.2a, and HDMI 1.3a (which added timer and audio commands to the bus).[80][81][82][83] The feature is designed to allow the user to command and control multiple CEC-enabled boxes with one remote control and for individual CEC-enabled devices to command and control each other without user intervention.[81]
Trade names for CEC are Anynet (Samsung); Aquos Link (Sharp); BRAVIA Sync (Sony); HDMI-CEC (Hitachi); Kuro Link (Pioneer); CE-Link and Regza Link (Toshiba); RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) (Onkyo); SimpLink (LG); HDAVI Control, EZ-Sync, and VIERA Link (Panasonic); EasyLink (Philips); and NetCommand for HDMI (Mitsubishi).[84][85][86][87][88]
What it basically means is that you can control all items connected via HDMI with one remote. You'll have to go through the menus of each item to turn off that feature. Or leave the TV on.

When you shut off the TV, have you tried waiting a few seconds to see if the audio comes back? I know if I shut off my TV, it takes it a second (since it lost connection with the other HDMI device) but it comes back...

I couldn't find any options to stop that from happening. I know the Viera uses the Viera link but I can't think of any other stuff that would cause this issue.

I will try that tonight. I seem to remember leaving it on for a while. I do notice on the receiver it shows the speakers that are being used area go blank right after I turn the tv off which leads me to think the issue is the receiver, but I see no options in the menu to fix it.

The Viera Link, that's it, shut that one Off from your TV.

In your Marantz receiver there is also one, CEC feature that might be called differently; just look in your Marantz's manual. ...And shut it Off.

And your PS3 also has one, shut it Off too.

Also, it might take few seconds or more before the Audio locked on from the HDMI connection.
...That's the price of newer technologies, like HDMI!
