Default bdp-bx1 vs bdps350 remote

i have read that Costco"s bdp-bx1 has a backlit remote. If thats true, can i buy a replacement remote and will it work for my Sony bdps350.

It uses the same remote, RMT-B103A, as the BDP-S550. It will cost you but you can buy it directly from Sony for $62.95.

You might also want to do a search to see if any third party vendors sell the remote at a cheaper price.

EDIT: I don't know how long you've had your player for, but at that price it would be cheaper to buy the BDP-S550 than what it would cost for the BDP-S350 + RMT-B103A. Plus you'd get all the extra features that come with the 550 that the 350 is lacking.

you make a damn good point.. but, returning the 350 is not a choice now.. i like the idea of a backlit remote.. is there a better picture of the remote somewhere..

Here's a good picture of the remote. Sony packages the same remote with the S550, BX1, and S5000ES hence it has the same part number.

Got one yesterday for my BDP-S350. It should have been standard with every Sony-branded Blu-ray player, right from the get-go.

$62.95 for a remote That is quite a hefty price for a remote. Only difference to me between the BX1 remote and S350 is the backlight lit. Other than that it is the same exact remote. Did you try looking on Ebay or something for a used remote? You may get a better price.

I just recently purchased a used Sony BDP-S500 without a remote (it was the store shelf model). Sony's site lists the remote for this player as the RMT-B100A but I've also seen on various sites that say the RMT-B101A remote works with this player as well. Those remotes both cost in the $60 range. I can find the RMT-B103A remotes for much cheaper. Would the B103A remotes work with the BDP-S500 Blue ray player? If so, that would be great. It would save me some money. If not, are there any remotes under $60 that would work for this player?
