Default Dark Knight Blu-ray Audio?

I've heard there have been a lot of issues with the Audio in the movie the Dark Knight...I noticed some anomalies while watching the Blu Ray recently...anyone else experience some inconsistencies in the Audio on this particular Blu Ray??

Its not a disc problem its just a problem with Warner in general since they always put the lossy audio track as the main audio when starting it up just like any other release from Warner. You just have to use the Pop-Up menu and change it to the lossless Dolby TrueHD.

I had issues with mine as well. Had to turn it up to about 70 during dialogue scenes.

To me the dialogue was quiet, I don't know if its was too much action/explosions/fighting or if the voices were recorded too low.

The dialogue was mixed low in the theater too. I distinctly remember that and even commented on it to my wife after the first time we saw it.

Switch to the HD audio in the settings. You'll notice the difference.

I think what he's talking about is a run of bad discs where, in a few instances during the movie, the movie would spontaneously switch from the TrueHD soundtrack to Dolby Digital. It has nothing to do with choosing the right soundtrack or the quality of the mix. There's a pretty thorough thread about it in the Blu-ray discussion at Amazon.

I didn't get a bad disc and I got mine before the street date, so this was definitely never a problem you could find on every copy; by this late date I'd say that if this is the problem you're having, you'll probably get a good one if you return it for a replacement.

Why doesn't Warner make the True HD soundtrack the default? I still have not figured that out

Especially if they're going to be lazy and not include a main menu. It's horrible to have to pause a movie that is already in progress just to change the audio track. Of course, there's always the audio button on the remote, but it only denotes the track number and the language. It doesn't show the type of audio track.

I didn't even know I wasn't listening to the HD track until my co-worker told me. I knew something was off about the sound, but I just figured that was how it was supposed to sound. After switching to True HD, I noticed the clarity.

Pause?!? Just hit the pop up menu button. There is no pausing involved with it. Although I do agree it should default to the HD track, I have now gotten used to checking the settings menu before I play the movie just to be sure it's on the HD track. Even if it's not a WB disc.

Make sure DRC is turned OFF on both the BD player and amp. This audio track rocks!

Yeah, I know this is nit-picking, but when you bring up the pop-up menu, you're now covering up the beginning of the movie and that's not how the director intended it to be. That's why I pause. All of this wouldn't be a discussion if a main menu was there. Warner is the only studio that does this.

I think what the OP was asking about, as some of you have mentioned, is the low dialogue and the heavy bass. If you have to, just turn down your subwoofer. If you're using TV speakers, turn the bass down.

Heh, I'm the same way. On Dark Knight though I know I have time so I just switch it over.

Default Audio

I also have problems with my copy of TDK. The default audio is DD 5.1, and when I'm changing to TrueHD 5.1, the sound is lower. It is much louder in the DD 5.1. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I was watching it with TrueHD, but in the dialogue scenes I had to turn up the volume a lot..
