Amazon.ca vs Amazon.com being Canadian

Hello everyone,

I just figured out how to order through Amazon US and I was wondering if any of you out there in Canada have done the same? When I compare prices between Canada and the US from Amazon, the difference is crazy...

My questions to all of you are in regards to blu-ray purchases:

1) Does Amazon.ca charge a brokerage fee? (U.S. Customs)
2) When I purchase, is it in American or Canadian funds?
3) How long is delivery and are items well packaged ?
4) Are the deals much greater on Amazon.com or am I not taking certain factors into consideration (taxes, exchange rate, shipping, etc.)

3) How long is delivery and are items well packaged ? For me I choose regular and free shipping if ordered on Monday I'll have it by the weekend.
4) Are the deals much greater on Amazon.com or am I not taking certain factors into consideration (taxes, exchange rate, shipping, etc) Last week you could get Monsters Inc, Up and Cars for a a really good price can't remember the exact but I ordered A Bugs Life, Up, Monsters Inc and Head after all said and done (shipping, duties and exchange rate I saved over 60.00.

you can go through the entire ordering process on Amazon.com and prior to completing your order, it will give the grand total, which includes a hefty shipping fee, as well as an import fee.
Find out the currency conversion rate and u will have your total.
Despite the high shipping & import fees, it is usually still cheaper than amazon.ca, FS or BB

Amazon.ca is fast, cheap, and reliable. UPS which ships their express shipments is NOT! 3 out of 5 of my last shipments from amazon.ca were crushed by UPS, destroying 1 or more disk case.

So are you saying stick with amazon.com and not amazon.ca because of shipping ?

i buy tons of blus and often grumbled at the deals americans get thru amazon.com and ALWAYS complain that amazon.ca SUCKS in comparison (in that their not even in the same planet) in the deals they offer compared to down south. and ive never ordered a single title from amazon.ca bcuz its totally not worth it. you can find better deals in canada from bbv, fs, bb, sig, dvdngg. i personally wouldnt take all the trouble ordering all the way from the US bcuz after the txes, duties and conversion rate it tends to negate most of the savings.

just my two cents... but i suppose if you ONLY have those two to choose from id order from amazon.com bcuz all the blus youll get will have all english covers and nothing bi-lingual which is very important for me. i really dislike bi-lingual covers.

I have ordered from both, I pay the hefty fee from amazon.com for duty etc and it takes up to 10 days.
amazon.ca takes anywhere from 2 to 4 days and all I pay is the tax. I tried the extra shipping to get it faster but in my case it took almost 7 days, so never opt for the express shipping its not worth the extra cash. I have yet to get a damaged package from amazon.ca
just my 2 cents
