Default Fading in and out?

I picked up my first BR player on Friday and hooked it up to my new Vizio 42' LCD. I bought the Sony BDP 5360 and I am using an HDMI cable for connection. I watched a few Blus and everything looked fine and on the third Blu I watched, I started to notice how the screen seems to fade from a darker picture to a lighter picture, at first it didn't do it that often and in darker scenes it does it quiet frequently and at some points during the movie it almost fades to complete black.

I switched over to regular television and it does not do this while watching cable, only when I am watching Blus.

Have I done something wrong? Did I hook it up wrong or is this faulty? I'm really nervous that I've messed something up. Please help! Thanks!

Dynamic Contrast or something like that in the picture settings of the TV? Try turning it off to see if that makes a difference.

Probably not, and it sounds like you have some kind of issue with Macrovision, copy guard, although it only works, (sometimes) on copying movies, BUT since you're not copying, only watching, you got me, on this one,

I notice the same thing when I'm watching tv. Its dynamic range. I don't know if its a good thing or bad thing.

Well this morning it's not doing it. I'm baffled at what the problem is.

It happened with every movie I played yesterday, three Harry Potter films and a Pixar movie.

So far today nothing.

do you have a light sensor on your tv? that would make the screen brighter in light environments, and darker in dark environments

I have no idea, how do I check for that? That seems to be the case, seems lighter during light environments and darker during dimmer ones.
