im looking to get some speaker cables for my front 3 and was looking at these cables from bestdealcables.com https://www.bestdealcables.com/p-144...ths-pairs.aspx

I have been told, and many members swear by them, that monoprice.com is the best priced and quality of cables.

It's like speaker wire, bigger is better. Typically, if your run is under 15 feet you should be fine with 28awg. I personally would go with 24awg or larger myself though, as I like the piece of mind it gives me.

I would consider having them terminated with Banana plugs for the AVR inputs and Spades for the Speaker inputs. Many AVR speaker terminals are placed so close together that is makes for a difficult, in not impossible, task to connect them. If you stick with spades, check their size before ordering and make sure your AVR can accomodate them.

Hi,

I know that the speaker cables that you have listed on sale, but, you may also want to consider Kevin's King/VALAB cables on eBay as an alternative:

http://tinyurl.com/ycd4dej

These are heavy cables about 3/4" thick and are well constructed of Oxygen Free copper and silver. Kevin uses special custom made Rhodium plated Banana plugs and spades.

I have really liked mine very much. They are really high quality that I and others use with our high end speakers and gear. I will be sending my present ones to John because the 3m pairs are too short.

Kevin has made up special long runs for my new house.

BlurayFred also has Kevin's speaker cables as well as his Interconnects and likes them very much.

Lou Hamilton is also probably going to purchase some of Kevin's cables in the New Year.

Also, Kevin will prepare any length and terminate them any way that you wish.

Rich

They are for your parents you said...

It all then depends on the budget. Best deal Cables.... you get what you pay for. If they don't care then just go to Home Depot and you should be able to get 14G for under a $1 a foot.

If money isn't an issue, I have Analysis Clear oval, beautiful sound, and definatley a nice classy look.
Peace

I've been living with the cables Rich referred to for about one week now. They are a replacement for my UltraLink Matrix 2 MPT-12 speaker cables, and I have been very impressed. They improved the bottom end quite dramatically and their level of detail is far superior to the UltraLink cables. I will gladly and enthusiastically second his recommendation for the King/Valab cables.

I would try making your own. Its alot cheaper and they can look nice. speaker and power cables can be made at a fraction of the price with no fancy tools needed. There is also a link on the Emotiva forum in the diy section about the ones I made.

Bluejeans cables may not look the best to you, but they do perform well. I assume you're running cables from your Rotel to your speakers? The Best Deal cables pictured have large spade ends on them. They should work with your Rotel, but they may be problematic for a regular receiver or your speaker terminals. I have the same spades on my XLO Electric Reference cables, which are fantastic by the way.
