Default Worth Upgrading?

I've got a Pioneer ELite VSX-01. I don't use the amp section since I've got an Emotiva amp running my speakers. My question is this, is there any benefit in upgrading the receiver say to a SC-07 or Marantz AV proc or an INTEGRA DHC-40.1?

I have all the HDMI inputs I need. I don't use any of the video processing AND I'll be buying a DVDO product in the future.

I've read all I can on MCACC vs Audessy and it seems like they both do the same thing, and i've got my subs EQd already.

Besides being able to set the crossover on each speaker in some of the newer units, am I missing anything in going to another unit?

Maybe even a UMC-1?

You'll need to weigh the cost of the new unit with the return on your investment. I am not sure what else you could improve with the new processors you mentioned other than possibly the auto-cal programs and the DAC's. Maybe other things in the units are important to you, I'm not really sure. But owning an SC-05 with MCACC myself, I do believe that Audyssey is better than MCACC with room correction, but that is just my opinion. As far as the DAC's, not sure what those units have, but there is a liklihood that they might even use the same DAC's. This could end up being a lateral move at a cost to you. If this is the case, obviously I wouldn't do it.

ill let you know in about an hour after im done playing with multeqxt32...but from everyone ive talked to, including two of onkyo's staff, there is little to no difference between their processor, pr sc 5508 and their receiver tx nr5008/3008...

i just went through the same thing as you...wanting to get a dedicated pre/pro....go check out the last few pages of the onkyo 5008 thread to find out what i ended up with
